It’s been now almost two months that I have been scam by Autovia and its broker, Economy Booking.
You can find my comment below.
Run from these scammers that seduce you with fake discounts.
Kindness of the people and the quality of the car.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Would’ve given 0 stars if I could. Disgusting customer service, they refused to provide car with my credit card. Then offered to provide the car with my partners card if we pay again but 5x the price we paid online. Still haven’t got my deposit back ever since. Staff were rude and unapologetic. Total scam.

The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Charged £400 to me post-hire with no explanation. And has ignored all attempts to communicate, likely because I have all evidence of car’s conditions ready for the dispute.
They are cheap for a reason, they will find anyway to charge you hidden fees like late fees.
Place is a dump and staff are rude.
Avoid at all costs.

We received service from a lady named Isabelle. At the rental station at Milan Airport. She simply did everything to make sure we had a good experience. She handled all the issues where problems were discovered. And all quietly and professionally. Bravo!

We queued for over two hours to collect the car, only to be told they didn’t have the automatic model we had specified. Once we finally received a car, about an hour into the drive we noticed the oil warning light was on and the engine sounded unusually loud. We called Autovia, and they advised that we could either drive back to exchange the car or buy oil ourselves and be reimbursed. We chose to buy the oil, and after that everything seemed fine.
We kept the receipts and informed the office when we returned the car. However, when we requested the refund for the oil, the staff became rude and refused to discuss it. Once we got home, we emailed their support team with all the details and received only an automated reply. Since then, we’ve had no refund and no apology for giving us a car that, in my opinion, was poorly maintained and potentially unsafe.

WARNING – Stay away from this car rental company!!!
They are complete scammers who take advantage of people! They gave us a car that didn’t even work properly, and when we came back to return it, they forced us to pay €790 for damages we absolutely did not cause.
On top of that, they threatened not to take us to the airport with the shuttle we had already paid for unless we paid their fake charges.
This was an absolutely horrible and stressful experience — please, stay away from this company at all costs!

SCAM!
I made a reservation for two cars in July. Due to a ‘technical issue’, they were only able to issue one. I was asked to contact customer service in order for them to amend the reservation and for the car to be released. I asked the lady at the counter, if the issue couldn’t be sorted, would I get a refund and she said, “of course”.
Customer service did not reply that day or ever and after three hours of standing at the counter, we were forced to go elsewhere with the understanding that we would get a refund as we did not cancel the booking and Autovia could not fulfil the reservation.
After we left Italy, I raised a claim with my credit card in order to get the refund as customer service never replied. Now, three months later, I have received an email from ‘Debt Recovery’ that I owe the payment for the second car or they will begin debt collection within 7 days! This is a scary, intimidating and scammy practice and as I was assured I would receive a refund, to then turn around and change their mind a quarter of a year later is very upsetting. I do not recommend anyone rents with this company. Maybe they will decide there is a technical issue with your booking and you will be stranded and hounded for money for a service you didn’t receive…

Avoid this rental company!!
We arrived at Milan airport and got the shuttle bus to the Autovia site to collect our pre booked rental car.
Stood in a queue for 2 hours waiting to be served to get our car. The service was so incredibly slow, they took at least 20 mins to serve one person.
We’d booked and paid for an automatic car and when we finally got to the service desk they didn’t have an automatic car available!! Luckily my husband doesn’t just have an auto licence as if he did we’d have been stuck..
finally got our car which seemed ok, was a VW Golf. Drive to Lake Como 1.5 hr drive and oil light comes on. Checked the oil and there was none in the tank, dip stick was dry. Phoned Autovia, they wanted us to drive the car back (1.5 hrs) with no oil to exchange the car. There was no way we were prepared to do that and lose time from our weekend break. It was agreed we could put oil in the car and get reimbursed for it. We put 1ltr in, the garage couldn’t believe it.
Returned car after our trip, started off fine, the man who did the check was happy with car.
We then discussed the oil and gave him the receipt plus the empty bottle, he then said that we should have an invoice for the oil. Advised we were not told this and a receipt was sufficient. The staff then became very rude. Told us we had to email the customer care team with photo of receipt and his manager had agreed to refund us the value of oil. We asked for a name as a reference and they refused to give us a name. Red flag!!
The guy then just stood up and walked away from us whilst we were still talking to him. I was shocked at the unprofessional manor and disgusted at the service.
We will be pursuing this and if necessary will go through a legal route at being supplied a dangerous car…. These cars are supposed to be fully checked before rental. Clearly NOT

We were handed a car in the rain and it was filthy - Hence we never spotted the most microscopic dent that they allege was on our watch - when photos taken on return its near impossible to see unless you catch the light exactly right and zoom in massively - so in essence unless you are an expert surveyor, there was no way our iphone pics of the car generally would reveal the mark as pre-existing in the rain!! Funny how the receiving agent walked straight to the right front fender on return. Charged an extra 265 Euro! - absolutely extortionate - this smells like a racket !!! on the positive side we claimed through RentalCover.com and they were absolutely superb!! as part of the booking .com setup

recently rented a car through Booking.com and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing.
• I prepaid £181.03 for the booking in advance through Booking.com.
• At the airport desk, I was unexpectedly asked to pay an additional €100 deposit and €360 for full insurance. I have receipts for these payments, and my manager (who was traveling with me) witnessed the transaction.
• When I returned the car and reported a minor accident, the staff told me my insurance was “not showing in their system.” However, after further checking, the same staff confirmed that my insurance was valid, my €100 deposit covered me, and I had no outstanding balance (€0.00 due).
• Despite this confirmation, Thay still ask me to paid by email £1500 and after that never replied to my emails again. I still haven’t received my deposit back, and the lack of clarity has been extremely stressful—especially during a business trip when we purposely paid extra for full coverage to avoid exactly this kind of problem.
This experience left me frustrated, as I did everything correctly and still faced conflicting information, unexpected charges, and delays with my deposit refund.
I strongly urge Booking.com and their rental partner to review this case and ensure better transparency for customers in the future. Travelers deserve clear communication, fair treatment, and peace of mind when booking through such a major platform.

So rude and sneaky
I’m writing this even before returning my car. I couldn’t have had a worse experience at the Autovia in Milano malpensa. Big blonde lady who refused to give me her name try to rip us off badly trying to sell us a higher level of insurance that we needed (being already covered by AutoEurope insurance). She said we did not have full coverage. But then when we called it out and told her we didn’t want the cover as we had already, and us telling her she was trying to trick us into buying another cover, she treated us badly, mocking us, calling us “intelligent”, saying that we did not have full coverage _with them_ adding this last part to her script. She even told us that unfortunately given that we were not buying the full insurance coverage with them she would not give us an “Audi” because that needed the full coverage from AutoVia, and gave us another lesser car.
I speak Italian and have also overheard them ripping some poor other customers on my left. Totally unacceptable behaviour in Milano Malpensa branch. If I had the name of the lady I would definitely raise a formal complaint with the central office. Alas I don’t because the lady refused to give me her name so this one star review is all I have left

I rent every week from this company and never had any issue what so ever, but I had to return my car 1 day early in Malpensa airport, when I arrived the front desk was busy so I handed over the keys and left for it to be inspected later. I then received a call later that day to say there was damage. Luckily for me I take photos of everything when I pick up any car. I advised this is a mistake and duly sent over the photos to prove this damage was already there. I heard nothing back, so upon my arrival at Bergamo airport 3 days later I spoke to the front desk and asked what the status was, which after they looked into it advised all is closed and no further action, my photo obviously proved a point. Today I receive an email requesting 345 euro for damage (the same damage I proved was already there) I have sent another email to their customer car team showing the picture again, and have tried to call them but never any answer, is this a scam ? lets see what I get back from them but this has left a very bitter taste given I am a customer who rents from them weekly.

They refused to give us the car because the driving license wasn't "valid", even though our driving license is international and we've never had any problems with it, both in Italy as well as other countries.
I sent them three emails and never got a reply, and when I tried calling them they hung up on me.
Very unfriendly and unhelpful staff, I would give them 0 stars if I could. I'm glad that I ended up getting a car at a different car rental after hearing stories about them scamming people. Do not recommend!
