Excellent

Dr Shortt is an excellent doctor who put me at ease immediately, was very thorough and understanding and provided excellent care. Having been very upset and worried about my eye, I felt very safe and well advised after my first consultation with him. All appointments etc by email very quick to organise and accommodating of my schedule. His private rooms are in a beautiful building on Harley Street.

Lasik Eye Surgery

I had my Lasik eye surgery recently performed by Dr Alex Shortt and I would highly recommend him. Whilst the surgery can be rather scary he was incredibly patient, explaining the procedure to the smallest detail.
I opted for blended vision and I am very happy with the result.

So pleased I ended up in the care of such a skilled consultant.

Despite my GP's assurances about 'just a stye', I asked for a referral to a consultant for my ongoing, persistent and painful eye condition.

On arrival, I was seen by a practice optician who checked my vision as a preliminary before seeing my consultant, Mr Alex Shortt.

Alex has a knack of making people feel at ease, is friendly and instantly put my mind at rest. He took my doubts about my GP's diagnosis very seriously and carried out a thorough eye examination. He immediately spotted a problem (two, in fact) and clearly explained both conditions, possible treatments and the likely prognosis in easy to understand terms - even including a quick sketch.

He prescribed a couple of treatments and insisted I contact him again with any further problems or if the conditions didn't improve - expressing the importance of treating eye conditions early.

While the condition can be difficult to cure permanently, whenever I have needed a repeat prescription or had a flare-up, Alex has been on the end of a phone or email with advice. Any repeat prescriptions needed have arrived the next day.

I have complete trust in his expertise and feel grateful that I ended up in the care of such a skilled consultant.

Fantastic doctor - cannot recommend highly enough.

Dr Shortt is undoubtedly one of the most professional and caring individuals whom I have encountered working for the NHS. He has always gone above and beyond, allowing me to contact him outside work hours in case of emergencies and taking a personal interest in my condition. Furthermore he is always sure to explain any problems or symptoms in layman's terms, answering any queries in full - something which many doctors fail to do and is particularly reassuring as a patient.
