The company failed to tell us we'd incur a £170 further charge, having encouraged us to be driven home by them after a burst tyre, rather than find a garage. They created a second job for themselves. Then they were hugely defensive about the complaint, wanting to find every means possible to avoid it, including assigning my complaint a prejudicial title. Avoid!
I'm really pleased I switched to GEM.
It's cheaper, better and from my experience of an actual breakdown, the callout time was quicker than any of the others I've used,(and I've been using breakdown insurance for over fifty years).

It is years since I had to use a breakdown service and I have only recently switched to GEM. I was impressed by the speed of response to my report of a breakdown via the app and reassured by the prompt follow up contacts from the customer service team whilst I was waiting for help to arrive. This relieved the 2 hour wait for help to arrive. The mechanic inspired confidence in his diagnosis and having got me going again was able to tell me where to buy a new battery locally.

An overheating problem led to roadside breakdown.
GEM team on the case and recovery truck on site within 30 mins. Transported home.

Sadly broke down today on my motorcycle but Gem sent a truck to collect me within an hour which was excellent. They also called every 15 minutes to check I was ok. Home safely thanks to Gem.

Best breakdown service I’ve encountered. Had to rely on GEM twice now in a matter of months. On both occasions, the service has been helpful, quick and efficient. Honestly cannot see how it can be bettered if a you have to suffer a breakdown

Had a broken front coil spring, car was at home so not an urgent recovery. Vehicle was picked up within 3 hours and taken to the garage of my choice(independent Volvo specialist). Very good service from the breakdown company called out to my home.

Great recovery service that covers both my vehicles. The magazine however is the opposite. I do not like being talked down to just because I don't worry about saving the planet 100%. Dreary letters from sad people with nothing better to do than make you feel you should not be driving my particular motorcycle or motor car. I've asked to not receive it hoping that will that help save the forests, and ink and power and anything else involved in its production.

You can’t trust a car!
Had my car brakes gone, but had to cover a trip back home near 250 miles.
I was really fortunate to have GEM Motoring for my Personal Road Assistance. Called GEM and no hassle! What I didn’t expect: GEM personnel called me several times and sent messages to keep me updated!
Best ever service and most professional attitude I had based on my personal experience!

As my breakdown cover has yet to start, I can only comment on the ease of enrolling. I found the website very easy to navigate and was impressed by the speed with which my joining documents were provided. The cost appears competitive and reasonable for a service recommended by "Which".

The Gem app is excellent and the system gives accurate updates re arrival times. Response times have been better than most other recovery brands I have used (manufacturers and third party). Technicians attending have been well trained.
