My Volvo S90 was sourced from them on…
My Volvo S90 was sourced from them on lease.
99.99% of car dealers give pretty poor service given the spend involved with them.
Ray Chapmans proved to be the 0.01% exception. I simply cannot fault them - best price, absolutely excellent service,
Excellent service.
Excellent service.
My oil light came on, about 2 months after I bought the car, spoke to Ray Chapmans, and they told me to bring the car in they will look straight away.
A mechanic plugged the vehicle in, and said “, it needs a update to its computer, when do you want to bring it in ?, “asked if Thursday was ok, and they booked it in. Went to collect Thursday night and said “I can’t take the car away until 07:00 Friday morning ,”no problem, we will open up so you can collect it then.
How can you beat that ?.
I would recommend Ray Chapman to everyone.
Very Disappointing Experience…
Here is a copy of the email which I sent to Ray Chapman Motors This morning. Dear Mr Chapman,
Two years ago,I bought a car from your Malton dealership-a V40 D3 which I was absolutely delighted with-both the car and the service. Therefore, when I decided to go for another car-aD4 diesil auto-I had no hesitation in contacting Mike your sales manager with my specific requirements.
So a week past Thu,when Gareth told me he had found me a car ,I was delighted. The car was above my mileage
criterion, but I was assured ,by Gareth, that 37,900 miles was not considered high for a car registered in July 2016.He also said that the car had just been serviced and should not need any serious work done.
On that basis,I arranged for finance and also for my friend to take a day off work on Tue 26th March, which was the pick-up date mutually agreed with Gareth.
On Monday 18th March,Gareth phoned me to say that they were successful in buying and that it met my criterion. And that it would be brought to the dealership the following day.
On Thu 22nd,Andrew phoned me to say that an alloy wheel required refurbishment and as there was a colour involved
the four would require to be resprayed, and asked what colour I wished them done in.I asked what the rest of the car was like, and I was told "fine."As I told Garaeth,my car was in A1 condition so "fine" gave me cause for concern.
On Friday 23rd March Gareth phoned me to say that the car, actually, needed four wheel refurbished, brake pads renewed, tyres replaced and a front panel replaced.I couldnt understand how the car could need brak pads and tyres if it had just been serviced, but needing four wheels refurbished and the front panel resprayed ,by a person who was happy to drive the car in that condition, suggested to me that the car had been mistreated. And not in the excellent condition I demanded.
In View of this ,I have had to cancel my finance -an invoice was generated before my final say was given on the car-,and I had to cancel my friend who has now lost his day off.I was very excited about getting this car,but now I just feel bitterly disappointed and let down,by a dealership I trusted,to the extent that I will not buy a car from Ray Chapman Motors again. And,having had a similar experience from other Volvo dealerships, recently, who also misrepresented the condition of theirs cars,it is unlikely that I will ever buy from another Volvo dealership

Ian Darroch
