UK resident hiring a car to travel from Bulgaria to Turkey
rented a car specifically to travel from Burgas to Istanbul. Completed all documents that clearly showed I was a UK citizen and lived in the UK. Paid an additional €80 to travel cross border. Very disappointed to arrive at the Bulgarian / Turkish border to find out that UK citizens cannot take a Bulgarian hire car into Turkey. Had to leave car at border and travel to/from border by taxi - cost €450 in total. I was very surprised that your company did not know travel regulations. I understand I sighed a waiver “you cannot guarantee that I could cross the border” but I believe I should have been advised that it’s actually not possible to cross border. Very disappointed with the service provided. I suggest you ask the correct questions when taking booking from UK citizens when hiring a vehicle from you.

Following our review, we concluded that all documents issued and prepared by us were complete, valid, and fully compliant with the requirements for traveling to Turkey with a rental car.
Additionally, we would like to note that in the past, other customers of ours who were also non-Bulgarian citizens have successfully crossed the border into Turkey with rental vehicles and without any similar issues.
For this reason, the arguments provided by the border authorities for denying entry do not appear to be related to the documentation prepared by our company. It is possible that there were other reasons for the refusal of entry. However, we do not have access to such information, as we are not the competent authority responsible for border control decisions and related procedures.
Please consider this email as our final position regarding the case.

But conveniently turkey do not allow uk visitors with a car
This company knowingly allowed over 25 car rentals this week to be stopped at the border and to take good customer money
We had to get a return taxi to Istanbul for 750 euro

After carefully checking the case, we can confirm that all required documentation was complete, valid, and fully compliant with the standard requirements for crossing the Turkish border with a rental vehicle.
We would also like to point out that other customers of ours, including non-Bulgarian citizens, have successfully traveled to Turkey with rental vehicles provided by our company without experiencing similar issues at the border.
For this reason, based on the information available to us, the refusal of entry does not appear to be related to the documentation issued by our company. Border control authorities may deny entry for various reasons that are entirely outside the scope and responsibility of a car rental provider. Unfortunately, we do not have access to the internal procedures, assessments, or decisions made by border authorities, nor are we authorized to intervene in such matters.
While we understand your disappointment and frustration regarding the situation, we believe it is important to clarify that our company fulfilled all obligations related to the preparation of the vehicle and the necessary travel documents in accordance with the applicable requirements.

Very easy. I booked booking.com pickup airport Sofia but after a call from me to Top rent a shutllebus came and picked me up in 2 minutes and drove me to the head office. A 3 minute drive.
Drop off same way. every 5-10 minutes there is a free shutllebus from Top rent a car that drives you back to the airport.
You can only get the car with CCard with pincode or Visa. A drop off at a different location as pick up costs extra. Car was almost new with a good navy.

I have used Toprent at Plovdiv many times and not had any problems.
There is a charge of 24€ added for cleaning which I have noticed recently, I think that is excessive and should be part of the rental.
Yanni and the tall bald guy are very helpful.

The Preparation Fee is a mandatory service as it is part of our standard procedure for all rentals without additional coverage, and it is therefore automatically applied. For customers who choose our Top Protection package, this fee is already included together with damage protection, roadside assistance, and a replacement vehicle if needed. This is the worst car hire company we have ever used. If we could give them a minus - 10 we would. Owing to their terrible communication and appalling Customer Service (or lack of it) we missed our flight home, had to rebook flights for next day, check into a hotel for the night and get more taxis to get to the airport the next day. The guy at the airport office inside Sofia Airport when we landed on Monday night of 11 May was arrogant, bombastic, and downright rude. The staff at the so called Head Office portacabin compound that we were taken to when our flight landed again were just awful. This company need to sort out their Customer Service skills on all levels and give them some proper training. Thank goodness that the hotel we stayed at were professional and so helpful. Maybe the hotel could send over some staff to show them how good Customer Service should be carried out.

I recently rented from "the no1 in Bulgaria Top Rent a Car" and unfortunately it was by far the worst car rental experience I have had, despite renting cars all over the world.
On arrival at the airport, we had to wait almost an hour for other clients’ flights to arrive before anything happened. After that, the agent disappeared to organise a mini bus which then took us across the car park just to collect the car. The entire pick-up process was extremely slow, unorganised, and frustrating. Over an after after 22:00 to pick up a car from an airport with only 2 arriving flights.
Returning the car was just as inconvenient. We had to drive back to their office, hand the car over for inspection, and then after checking it, they got back into the same car and drove us to the airport themselves. It made no sense and added unnecessary delays.
The service overall was incredibly slow and inefficient. Customers should be clearly warned in advance that they may face long waits for the mini bus and extended collection times. I would not use this company again.

Depending on the workload at the office and the overall coordination of the daily operational process, it is possible that several arriving flights may be grouped together before the shuttle transfer is organized. This is part of our efforts to manage peak arrival periods efficiently while ensuring all customers are served as quickly as possible.
Regarding the return process, vehicle inspections at our office are part of our standard procedure to ensure transparency and protect both the customer and the company from any misunderstandings about the vehicle’s condition. After the inspection, our staff provides direct transportation back to the terminal for convenience.
We understand that travel delays can be frustrating, and we continuously work on improving our transfer and pick-up efficiency, particularly during peak seasons. Your comments have been shared with the relevant team and will help us improve our service further.
