I had been frustrated by not being able to get through to Vauxhall technical support. When the instrument display panels suddenly started displaying in litres and kilometres and in Spanish.
I drove to Vertu Chingford I explained my problem and Gary (I think the service manager) had it all fixed in a few minutes; he was brilliant and a credit to his company. Guess where my car gets its next service.

Let me tell you a story about Vertu (Vauxhall) Chingford & Vertu Motors.
In February 2025 we purchased a car for my wife. A Corsa E Anniversary edition. The test drive, despite the car being filthy was ok, the 1st sales guy ok. But it went down hill from there. Anyway after a couple of hours we had put deposit down (Maximum they will allow on credit card is £500, because they want to sell you their credit! Be Warned). But my wife loved the car, and we arranged to collect a week later and they agreed to resolve the bodywork bits and clean he car.
We arrived midday the day we should have collected the car. They had done the bit,s bar one they stated they would and they resolve that. They then took the remaining £13,000 did the paperwork and the guy scuttled of to the 'post office' to tax the car! It's an EV so does not need tax and the post office! 20 minutes they said. But an hour later, they told us unfortunately, we dont have the log book, so you can't have the car because we cannot tax it. Now a main vauxhall dealer, then took in a car, put it on sale and did not have the log book!!! hmmm professionalism at its best.
Anyway, to cut a very long tale short, my wife and baby left left at about 4:30pm and I stayed til gone 6pm. They categorically refused to allow me to take the car. But I had possession of the keys. They tried to park another car to block ours. The general manager allegedly was driving constantly that Saturday afternoon between 2pm & 6pm and wasn't able to stop and talk to us. They couldn't say how long the car would be before we could have it, but they had our money and we had paid in full. Eventually they relented 20 minutes before closing when I was still refusing to move. They had our money, but they refused to let us take the car. Now legally its, mine. ok its not taxed but at this point you'll understand I am not going to trust them with my car & £13.5k of my money!
They gave me a car, a demonstrator because they don't have courtesy cars. However, my wife had not had her license for a year, so she could drive it!!!
We returned the next day, returned the loan car as, she couldn't drive it, and I decided to take the Corsa-e which I could now get out. I told them and that they couldn't do much about it.
So angered by their complete lack of understanding and lack of empathy, oh btw don't bother with Vertu complaints, they are so busy (the messgage tells you this on the answerphone, you have to leave a message!!! always a good sign when your complaints team are so busy they can't take your call!!!
So, on the Sunday I found their CEO on Linkedin. He replied to my InMail!!! I thought we'd get somewhere now. He provided his work email and I sent him our experience to date. Vauxhall Chingford responded by getting their 'Service Manager' to call and threaten that if I did not return the car immediately they would call the Police! Now, I have an invoice, a Bank Transfer for the full amount and so legally the car is mine! So not sure why the Police would be interested! But clearly the dealership had been told off by the Boss and their bruised Ego's responded with this little Gem. Threaten the customers that you let down and failed with the Police! For what? Theft? I can't steal my own vehicle right!?
After many conversations with the CEO and his Minion, we eventually went in, 2 WEEKS LATER!!!!, With not an utter of an apology from the dealership!
Fast forward to July 2025, my wife with baby are driving the car and it breaks down. Won't move. AA come out and the car starts. They advise take to Vauxhall. I called ahead & booked for the first possible slot, next Tuesday. Anyway the car was now running, so they agreed to take the car and would look at it sooner if possible!
My wife gets there, followed by her parents. The receptionist was suitably rude (No improvement since our last experiences). Eventually they found the booking. They then rudely told her she is too late for today. Yes we knew that.
My wife called at the end of the following day to ask if they there was an update. It's now Friday, Great they have sorted before, but at a cost of £120 to say NOTHING IS WRONG! They said the car was now ready to collect, but it's 1/2hr before they close and we are an hour away! She said we will collect tomorrow (Saturday) ... "You can't Service are closed weekends!) hmmm maybe no one brings cars to you because of your attitude to customers so not enough business on a Saturday? Just a thought!
Called them this morning.... RUDE! guy on sales responded Yep, Yep, Yep Yep, as I spoke and said call service Monday We can't help!
All I need to do is pay 120 on a card and take the key. No chance. But if It was a deposit they'd take it today!
I have never experienced such disinterest, rudeness, threatened but he Police stc and I have bought a lot of new and used cars. Beware to your own Peril... this company does not CARE!!! Please buy somewhere else.
