ALAN DAY SOUTHGATE! DO NOT USE THIS DEALER!!!
All I needed was a written quote for a repair job for insurance purpose. Cost is 1 hour + VAT. Simple don't you think? I have spent more than 3 hours being put through from pillar to post. No one gives their real name and then tells me to call back on the same number before cutting you off. Absolute jokers. I have emailed their head office too. I wonder if I will get a response.....

A terrible representation of VW and Group 1 Automotive
VW asked that I use this dealership to help them with a V5 correction preventing me from selling my car or validating my insurance. After over 3 months of emails and calls being ignored, I tried in person for the third time with it now being urgent. I attempted to escalate this via Miriam (Customer Services) explaining the personal impact of this issue, who specifically said "you can't escalate this as we don't have management - and there's no complaint process available for you, as we are now Group1Auto" (which I knew was nonsensical and a clear failure of their legal duty according to the Motor Ombudsman). So I asked if I should talk to Sales, to which she laughed and said "what are Sales going to do" and walked away. Sales said they would help so I provided documentation for the third time, but heard nothing back. Their handling of a simple admin request effectively cost them a sale.
Poor customer service
Cancelled MOT/service at last minute, didn't apologise for doing so. Subsequent appalling customer service from Tony de Jesus when they made further errors. He was particularly rude, confrontational, hostile and refused to take accountability for his company's error.
Terrible experience
Terrible experience. Book my car for a repair and I was told that it'll take 2 days. After 5 days the car is still sitting in the garage.
Called number of times asked for an update no response. Never experienced such awful service from a main dealership
No communication No accountability !!!!!
Today I had an unfortunate experience with Alan Day New Southgate regarding an appointment I made for my Volkswagen under warranty.
I called them in November regarding warning lights appearing on my dashboard and the earliest they could schedule an appointment was January 29th.
After waiting for this long period, I received a call today 28th of January to inform me that I should call back next week to reschedule or consider booking my car with a different dealership.
This lack of communication and accountability is disappointing and unacceptable, especially after such a lengthy wait.
While I understand that scheduling can be challenging, situation reflects poorly on the service provided by Alan Day I expected better handling of warranty appointments especially given the urgency of vehicle safety concerns.
I hope that future customers have a smoother experience but I would advise anyone needing assistance to consider other options.
Very bad customer service
Very bad customer service. They dent my car while repair. They Don't want to check CCTV.

Visited the branch at New Southgate on Friday 16/01/26 and spoke to a member at the service reception regarding an issue with my braking system on a VW Polo.
I was informed that a diagnostic charge of £270 would be payable to ascertain or not the defect. I decided not to proceed. I have since had an independent motor mechanical technician to inspect the vehicle. The computer programme facility on the dashboard of the vehicle needed to be changed. Does not say much for your service receptionist as to the knowledge and understanding of the motor vehicles (VW) you sell !!!
DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE.
DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE.
Absolutely terrible service. We were promised a car, waited for months with constant excuses, and in the end the car was never delivered. What makes it even worse is that we are now fighting just to get our deposit back. This whole experience has been extremely stressful, frustrating, and upsetting. The lack of honesty, accountability, and communication is shocking. I deeply regret dealing with this company and would strongly warn others to stay well away.

In December 2025 I used hampstead dealership for a waiting oil and brake fluid service for my 73 plate CADDY. When the van was ready to collect I notice the new pollen filter was on the front passenger seat not fitted thereafter I decided to check the engine bay and found oils spillages on the engine cover and oil level below half, After highlighting this to the reception staff the disappointed technician returned to clean the oils spillages and stated the oil level was fine which I disagreed with he then replace the pollen filter. Even in a rush he incorrectly fitted the glove compartment after speaking to the service manager whose attitude was hostile towards my complaint this was then refitted correctly by another member of staff. My first experience with this dealership was disappointing and incompetent on behalf of the technicians. This dealership is all about quantity and not quality they are far below the expectations set by Volkswagen standards the customer services and working practices need to be reviewed by VW UK and the attitude of the service manager unacceptable. Unfortunately I would never use this dealership again !! The video footage from the dealership is transparent with the sequence of events regarding this feedback.
Dreadful customer service from the…
Dreadful customer service from the service team. Do not use!! My gearbox has a technical fault, told not told drive the car. All under warranty. Earliest date they could look at the car was in TWO months time, February!!!!
Avoid, go elsewhere
Went in for a major service, nothing is wrong with the car yet they tried to get me to pay for the removal of about 8 leaves under the bonnet for £45 along with trying to replace every perishable item going, despite having most replaced a year ago at the previous service. When I got the car back, they had just left the leaves under the bonnet and no car cleaning / washing was offered as they ‘planted a tree’ instead.

Vw review
Where to start. If I could give no stars I would. Shambles from start to finish . Not sure this dealership could run a bath.
From the collection of my vehicle , waiting 2 hours for a handover. To the car being covered in specks of white paint and the salesman telling me they had the garage painted so probably over spray from that! So waiting 2 hours for a handover and the salesman is buffing out paint in the showroom! Not ideal and the car should have been checked prior to handover?!
So a few weeks into owning the car and the boot decides to fail. So no access to get it open. Earliest availability 3 weeks! Back and forth between warranty and after 3 weeks the boot finally got fixed!!!
2 weeks later the car goes into limp mode. Vw roadside assistance called and stated it had no coolant. 3 days later same issue same problem. Following day same again!! Gets taken to my local VW garage who carry out inspection. A coolant leak into the engine! Oh no! Complete write off!!! So a month in a nothing but issues. Sometimes you get sold a lemon and you expect it to be sorted in a reasonable manner , these things can happen.
So after the tragic diagnosis of the car I formally write stating I wish to reject the car and terminate the agreement.
I still got charged monthly payments on the car and had had the joy of being informed I was entitled to a courtesy car whilst they went through all the policies and paperwork.
A few weeks into hoping this could be resolved so I could get into a new car, I received a message to say my car was fixed and the courtesy car I was in was being recalled. Aha! My car was not fixed and no work had been authorised yet! So courtesy car was extended….until enterprise then billed me over £1000 in charges for the luxury of having a courtesy car. All whilst still paying monthly payments!! So my deposit money, monthly payments and now incurring hire costs, VW ensured I would be refunded all this money and the charges would stop! Hahaha wrong AGAIN!! I continued to be charged!! This went on for over 3 months!!!
I have since been refund all my money.
I asked the question of goodwill and if after this horrendous ordeal and undue stress I would be compensated with an offer of sincerity , but no! Steve Salmon I believe general manager stated all money was refunded and no such gesture would be offered!!!
This is from start to finish the most unprofessional dealership of any brand I have ever dealt with.
Not even a letter/email or phone call to apologise for everything. Radio silence.
Complete and utter rip off
Complete and utter rip off. Giving Volkswagen a bad name and should not be affiliated with the brand. Took my car for a minor service (with no issues) the smug salesman recommended a fuel and aircon service. Car was returned to me with no/faulty heating. After a week of trying to contact the service team I was told by the salesmen that the issue was not a result of their work and I would have to pay £275 for an investigation and whatever the cost of the additional repairs. Basically ripped off in the most rude and unprofessional manner. Terrible organisation. VW New Southgate. Avoid at all costs. Would recommend Marshall VW, in Loughton as an alternative. The single star review they received is only due to the fact a zero star rating is not an option
They just don't care
Not sure the team here have ever heard of customer service...
Booked a test drive, really helpful on the phone. Turned up to test drive and while the one salesman who we had booked it with was dealing with another customer (and overran by at least 20minutes), not one of the three other men in the garage offered to walk me through the features of the car I was looking at, and sitting in.
We had to leave due to time constraints and them running over time so didn't get to drive.
When I tried to rearrange my booking and told them I was looking to get a company car to be ordered and built to my spec and not buy with them, they told me they didn't want me putting miles on their cars. I did point out that Skoda still wins the sale but they couldn't care less.
Would they have treated a man differently?
Have you ever seen a house of cards…
Have you ever seen a house of cards collapse? It's a slow-motion disaster that begins with a shaky foundation. The same is true for a business that operates with arrogance, and now the collapse is imminent.
With the business closing, any money you've paid is vulnerable. To avoid being left high and dry, you must act now. We strongly urge you to cancel any existing orders and recover your deposits before it's too late.
Total rip off Alan Day Skoda
Total rip off Alan Day Skoda. Promised a refund on a warranty only offering £1000 per claim and cost £645! 6 weeks later still waiting

Truly appaling
What an utter sh1t show .
Despite booking an appointment was late. Hadn't organised any forms or keys. Sold the car and didn't tell me till I got there. Went off to get more keys left me stood outside with keys to a car I didn't want in the rain. After waiting 8 mins I left.
Went and spent 30k elsewhere
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. Just spoke to Ryan. Asked if someone could listen to a noise coming from my engine, he told me the only availability was 3rd November?? It’s the 8th of August!
