Avoid for servicing

Avoid - poor servicing department
Ignorance/incompetence about recalls and servicing. Phoned to book in our id.3 for 2 year service at Hampstead. We were told that the car also needed a battery recall and a software update but Hampstead branch not a 'battery competent' site so we would need to be taken to Southgate for that in 2 months time. They said they could do a service at Hampstead in the meantime. After dropping car off today and returning home by train, we got a phone call to say they could not service the car before the 2.4 software update. Apparently VW wont allow it, No meaningful apology or attempt to mitigate the mistake given - just come back and pick up your car. When we picked up the car (not even washed!), it was apparent that the manager did not understand details of the recall at all. He thought it was just a software update - unaware of the battery issue. We have now booked car in with another dealer for its service who confirmed it can be done before the recall as recalls are taking a long time to be done.
Alan Day wasted our time and, worse the manager was unhelpful, cold, lacked knowledge and did not care. We will never use Alan Day again.

THIS DEALERSHIP GETS GOOGLE TO DELETE…

THIS DEALERSHIP GETS GOOGLE TO DELETE YOUR HONEST REVIEW THAT HAS BEEN UP FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS WHEN ORIGINALLY POSTED!

Booked my vehicle in with VW Alan day on the 23rd October 21 & the nearest appointment available for them to have the vehicle was 23rd November 21 so fast-forward to the day my car goes in (8am) for warranty work (vehicle to be checked over & diagnosed) by them! Collected the vehicle around 15:30pm (I'm a self employed tradesmen so took that day of work) was told upon collecting the vehicle that certain parts will be changed under warranty & that they would need the vehicle for 2 days!!! "2 days I replied" to do something that is only a maximum of 4 hours at a push so alarm bells at this point started to ring off in my head (good job I left my dash-camera plugged in my car) Then the lady who was dealing with me said well 1 day should be fine but no courtesy car was offered to me, even when I asked they said there wont be one available? So the same VW lady (representative) went & collected my vehicle from the rear car park & drove it round to the front of the entrance for me to take back my vehicle.

When I got home I thought let me check my dash-camera footage to see exactly what happened & to see if this VW Alan day (Southgate) even checked/looked/diagnosed my vehicle to justify the 2 days or even 1 day they wanted the vehicle back for? Low & behold my dash-camera evidence clearly shows my vehicle being moved by a VW staff from the front car park entrance (where I parked the vehicle) to the rear VW car park (right in front of the old car wash brushes) with that VW (representative) who drove my car swearing at customers under his breath that were trying to park up, he then bashes my car over the pot-holes/ramps that lead to the rear car park (very unprofessional) especially for someone who is representing a global corporation company?

My vehicle then stays at the same car parking spot all day & does not even move, it does not even have a VW technician come out to look or diagnose my vehicle but most importantly it does not even enter the workshop! So how could they tell me upon collecting my vehicle that they will replace the required parts under warranty if my dash-camera clearly shows no-one from this VW garage (technician) has even looked at my vehicle!

So evidently they are starting of with a service to the customer purely based upon lies & deceit which obliviously shows there intent from the get-go but most importantly there is no trust from the start as I have evidence from my dash-camera (front & rear) which proves this is the case.

I have reported the company to VW complaints & I'm currently drafting up a lengthy email for the attention of the C.E.O of VW.

I will never use this VW branch ever again because I won't get burned once, let alone twice, really unprofessional & despicable service, they should be audited on a regular basis to make sure they are complying to a code of conduct practice.

I never treat a customer with dishonesty or lack of trust, I suppose this is the difference between a small self-employed person or independent company/garage (small fish) compared to a big global corporation company (big fish) that just don't give a S**T

Cost cutting potentially fraudulent!

I had booked to see a golf as part of the VW ‘approved used program’ as it should provide the reassurance of the quality of their used cars. Although sounds good, in practice is very different. I had arranged to view a Golf after having spoken to the sales rep. As I was travelling from the Midlands I had asked for all paperwork to be ready for my visit to include the 142 point checks that are completed on all vehicles before sale. Having driven the 2.5 hour journey, the only paperwork that was able to be produced in regards to the checks completed was one piece of paper that had about 10 points on there which had been completed when they received the car showing damage to panel and tyre tread depths - nothing mechanical, just visual that anyone can do (there were no where near 142 points in that one side of piece of paper that included a diagram of the car ). When I queried this, the response I got was ‘this is all we have’. Clearly the 142 checks that are supposed to be completed are cost cutting exercise to maximise profits. Either way, I’m staying away, not to mention the wasted time!

‘142 checks

Our skilled, Volkswagen trained technicians carry out a thorough workshop and test drive inspection of every car before it can become an Approved Used Volkswagen.

Any faults identified are fixed using Volkswagen Genuine Parts™. Only then can a used car become part of the Approved Volkswagen programme.’

What a Pleasure dealing with such a Great Salesman

I have just collected for my Company an e Golf which was sold to us by Aminur Khan, and I must say what a pleasure it was dealing with Amin. From when I walked into the showroom to finalizing the purchase a week later he was so helpful, proactive and even went to the trouble of personally delivering some documents to my office. I would certainly recommend Amin to all my Friends and Colleagues.

Refused to honour warranty

Refused to honour warranty, tried to overcharge me, terrible experience.

I have had my van serviced here for 10 years and have always found the garage to be first class. However, on 15th December 2021, I took my 2016 VW Caravelle 150 PS to Alan Day Volkswagen for an ACC /ABS error code on the dashboard. The van has the benefit of a VW "all in" warranty.

At 2pm on the same day the service advisor called me to say that the ABS issue required the nearside rear wheel bearing to be cleaned that it was not covered by the extended warranty and he quoted £152.40 plus VAT for cleaning the wheel bearing. Alan day also quoted for the following:-

• Fuel additive £39.99 + vat
• Timing belt tensioner and water pump £885 + vat (vs a cost of £439 + VAT at Marshalls VW)
• Brake Fluid change - £69 + VAT
• Air con service £139+ VAT
• New rear brake pads £369 + vat (despite having 11mm of wear versus the minimum recommended of 7mm)

However, upon viewing the technicians video, he clearly stated that there was a faulty ABS sensor and that that it required replacing, there is no mention of cleaning a wheel bearing.

I stated how unhappy I was and asked to speak to the manager who I spent 20 minutes with. The manager explained that the warranty claim had been rejected by VW and that there was little more that they could do they suggested I get in touch with the warranty department at VW Commercial Vehicles Customer Services (0800 783 4909)

I left Alan Day fuming as they also refused to fill up my ad blue (despite me being eligible for 6 top ups); they firstly stated that the cost was down to me and then when I showed them the paperwork evidencing the VW Ad Blue offer upon purchasing the vehicle, they stated that there was no ad blue in stock and that it was on back order. What a shambles!

At 3.30pm on the same day, I called VW Financial Services who told me the claim had not been submitted and that I should ask Alan Day why. He went on to say that a component like the ABS sensor could be covered, providing it has not failed due to anything adverse (e.g. an impact). I went back to Alan Day and asked them why they had not submitted the warranty claim and had lied to me saying they had. They stated that they had only followed correct "procedures" and that their diagnosis had not actually necessitated a main VW warranty rejection because protocol meant the bearing should be cleaned before changing an ABS sensor.

I then challenged them as to why they were seeking to charge £152 plus vat to remove a wheel bearing cover and spray some brake cleaner into the wheel bearing surround. They then backtracked and suggested that the £152 charge was actually for diagnostics, which I know was not the case and the paperwork clearly states "NSR wheel bearing requires cleaning - cost £152".

After a bit of toing and froing and few more phonecalls, the manager of Alan Day reluctantly agreed have their warranty Clerk Jason file the warranty claim. However, 24 hours later at 4.45pm on 16th December Alan Day called to say the warranty claim had been refused. I subsequently spoke to another senior technician at an alternative VW main dealership who stated "those sensors are well known to fail, take it back to them an insist they honour the warranty".

I am very dissatisfied with the service I received and have now escalated the complaint at VW. Alan Day could have offered to replace the ABS sensor and contribute to the cost or even offered a discount on the work. I would have happily paid some of the cost, but insisting I pay £152 plus vat to clean a wheel bearing, without any guarantee this would result in a successful warranty claim is totally unacceptable.

By making this complaint I hope Alan Day will offer something to put right this situation and I would then be happy to detract my negative feedback

This was the the most terrible…

This was the the most terrible experience we as an organisation have recieved from a supplier and to be openly honest, we did not expect such a "cowboy" of a job from Volkswagen Alan Day. I had to raise an initial complaint which thankfully Paul Grange assisted us to the best of his ability and this is now my second complaint and final straw.

My initial complaint was for the engineers Alan Day employs as they assumed the issue was rooting from not having carried out a major service which I reiterated that it had gone through a major service. Nobody at Alan Day believed me and wanted to see proof of an invoice which I sent confirming that the vehicle had gone through a major service using genuine VW parts. This alone resulted in Alan Day loosing credibility as an established retailer as we have NO confidence in the engineers you employ. The issue your engineers ASSUMED was from not going through a major service, turned out to be A MAJOR FUEL SYSTEM issue which mounts to a total of £4000+.

THIS COMPLAINT I AM MAKING IS GOING TO THE FINANCIAL OMBUDSMAN SERVICE WITH MY VIDEO FOOTAGE EVIDENCE FOR THE MISCONDUCT AND UNFAIR PRACTICE ALAN DAY IS CURRENTLY UNDERGOING. RF18 JWU HAS NOT BEEN SERVICED AT ALL, NO OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED, NO COOLANT LEVEL HAS BEEN TOPPED UP TO WHICH I HAVE VIDEO EVIDENCE OF. I AM DISGUSTED WITH THE SERVICE ALAN DAY PROVIDES. YOUR QUICK TO TAKE PAYMENTS BUT FAIL TO DELIVER ON A SIMPLE SERVICE TASK. UNNACCEPTABLE.

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

I recently bought a used VW Polo from Alan Day New Southgate. Immediately after driving the vehicle out of the garage black smoke poured out the exhaust. Later that day, the car broke down due to a defective battery. After calling roadside assistance, I was notified that the dealership would have had to have jump started the car to simply get it out of the garage. I found this highly concerning considering Alan Day VW supposedly perform 240 checks of all used vehicles before selling used vehicles, one of which was the battery. I decided to return based upon this. Initially, when attempting to return the car, Alan Day New Southgate ignored my calls and then when trying to return the car they then stated that I could only return the car when they could make time for it and as a result I had to take a day off work to do this. When returning the car, I received no apology for the great inconvenience caused nor any advice on how to cancel road tax etc or compensation for having to pay to cancel my insurance. All in all, I would not recommend my worst enemy to buy a used vehicle from Alan Day New Southgate. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

I recently bought a replacement key for…

I recently bought a replacement key for my golf from Alan day in Southgate.

Firstly getting through to them via voice call was near impossible.

I eventually managed to get to the dealership, was asked to pay for the key ( which I paid), was advised the key be with them within a week and they would contact me to book for programming the (takes an hour) key.
I asked them if I can wait while the programming takes place as my place of residence was not near.
A week went by and I decided to make a dreaded call that no one responds to.
Finally got through, the booking guy, offered me two slots 8am to 10am,
Which I accepted on arrival, I was told drop the car and call me at 5 to 5:30pm, on the be day.

To my surprise, I told them I am diabetic and have to take my medication in about 2 hours, which would be fine on them completing the work but they denied they ever told me that my car would be worked on at the time I was asked to arrive at the garage.

I have decided to take my car elsewhere for reprogramming.
Terrible experience.
