Top notch professional service

My daughter has just bought a new T-Roc from Alan Day VW, and the whole experience has been superb, from initial enquiry right through to delivery. The service provided at the beginning by Marc Skuce, then latterly by Charlie Varney was exemplary. We were dealt with in a polite, efficient and extremely helpful manner - Without question, the best and most professional service I have experienced from a car dealership in nearly 50 years of motoring.

Will not be returning...

Dropped my 2016 VW Passat in to have the infotainment system upgraded to use Apple CarPlay. That wasn't possible as my car doesn't support it (fair enough). Drovethe car home and didn't use it for 2 weeks (lockdown in central London so no need). Next time I drove, received a phone call, call didn't connect through the infotainment system and not possible to connect. Navigation not working either. Alan Day VW claim they "never touched it" while they had it and it's a coincidence. They want £150 to run diagnostics. Certainly will not be returning, I always thought the main dealer is where you get the premium service but I would have been better off if I never went in the first place.

Highly recommend - especially Tony!

I have just picked up my third vehicle at Alan Day Hampstead and what a pleasure it is dealing with them. Tony Manicini have looked after us for the last 5 years and his approach is always professional, accommodating and friendly - ask for him if you want the best service. The overall experience is top class and the vehicles always drives like a dream!

Alan Day Volkswagen Hampstead - awful service

Very disappointed. Bought a T-Roc in December 2020 and I already have several issues with the car. Nothing major but quite annoying: media system is intermittent, heating does not work properly and grinding noise using the reverse gear. I complained to the sales team but they did not mind at all so I called the services who told me that I could not be booked in before a month time at best and it might cost me money to investigate the faults (despite the 3year warrantee). Overall no one really bothered that a 1 month old has so much faults and I was disappointed by the car.

Buyers BEWARE pray you don't have any problems with your purchase. After Sales customer service is non existent / poor.

New Southgate - mixed experience

A pretty mixed review. Happy with car, price and pre sale was all good. However, a lot of admin issues which resulted in me "purchasing" all four add on insurances worth over £1k in cost. Took a few phonecalls and emails to sort out, sales assured me was techinal error etc but I never agreed to them. V5 form wrong, all website in UK have our car as petrol 4 wheel drive when it's diesel 2 wheel drive. Made insurance difficult. After waiting and waiting for new log form (2 plus months since purchase) had a follow up conversation with sales who explained that I or they will have to send incorrect V5 form back to DVLA with a cover note from VW. Had I not repeatedly chased then nothing would have happened.

Overall, happy with car and content with deal. However, I feel that there are pretty serious faults with the dealership post sale. I've had a few apologies but it's been a massive headache which you don't expect when sorting (nearly) a new car. Massive shame.

ALAN DAY VW NEW SOUTHGATE - IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD.

Bought a used VW UP. First heavy rain water ingress. Driver's side absolutely sodden. Phoned VW first appointment early April! They cancelled this due to the pandemic. Post lockdown phoned VW again to re-book, earliest appointment November! Sales manager is refusing to investigate the problem which was clearly there when the car was sold to us. Absolutely no after sales customer service. What a despicable way to treat a customer! Who said the customer is king!

Buyers BEWARE pray you don't have any problems with your purchase. After Sales customer service is non existent.

New Southgate branch wouldn’t let us test drive, so we won’t let them take our money!

Tried to test drive the ID3 at the New Southgate branch this morning. It’s my and my husband’s very probable first choice of electric car. We had made a booking - all fine. When we arrived, the salesman said he wouldn’t let us test drive until we’d gone through the finance options first “to check you’re really committed.” Big red flag.

He then changed his mind and started to show us around the car, but then halfway through said, “If I let you test drive this car(...!) we have to take it off the road for three days. You’ll need to commit to buying within that time.” When we asked him how we could possibly know whether we’re going to buy in three days without test driving the car he replied, “Oh it’s very unlikely then that I’ll let you test drive the car.”

We decided to leave then. We won’t be pressured into paying a lot of money for a car we can’t even test drive. If we’d have been able to do the thing we’d booked to do, there’s a good chance we would have bought, but instead we had a set of bizarre interactions with an incompetent salesperson and now we won’t be giving Alan Day any money. Don’t waste your time with this branch.

Mixed. Good sales, poor aftercare.

Buying a new car at the New Southgate branch last year was pleasant and easy - maybe it always is when you're throwing thousands of pounds at people! But not impressed by the aftercare. Took three phone calls just to find out the grade of engine oil (it's not in the handbook). Believe it or not they had all my calls logged but still hadn't replied after three weeks! Then, after having been totally confused by Skoda's very poor online information about the Skoda Connect service, I called in in person to ask. Two very helpful-sounding people (one in sales, one in parts) said they'd just been on a course all about it and would contact me in a couple of days after a Skoda rep had called. They never did. Then, during lockdown, the car's start button broke. The Alan Day online and answerphone info was vague and inconsistent: it wasn't at all clear whether they were carrying out essential repairs with appropriate safety measures in place, or were completely closed. Of course I could not raise a human being or get an email reply to tell me. Got it done relatively painlessly at Trans City Skoda in E17. Oh and there was not a single phone call or email along the lines of "how are you finding your new car sir?".

Alan Day Hampstead - excellent service

Just had an annual service + MOT today. The customer service here gets better every year. Having been told that I could probably collect the car at 5.30pm, I told them to let me know when the car was ready as I could collect it quickly (since I live 20mins' walk from the garage). To my pleasant surprise, Mark from the garage called me just after 12.30pm to say my car was ready for collection. Brilliant! Also, the car was perfect as well.

Alan Day City Branch - Good service

We recently had a dispute with the City branch - but I must say, our concerns were dealt with superbly by Sam, who really took the time to listen and understand before we reached an amicable conclusion.

Faith restored in branch, and I look forward to using them again in the future.

Very good service

Very good service. The technician and the workshop controller came up and explained everything I needed to know as the advisor is lacking of knowledge and she had been a bit rude

But I’ll definitely will go back there and will suggest it to all my Audi friends
Prices amazing
Well done 👍
A big thank you to the technician and his workshop manager. It’s because of them that is a 5star review

Customer service

Picked up the new VW Tiguan Allspace. From the first time we were introduced to Lenin Raphael he was very informative and took his time with us. We did wait for the production of the car and when there was a delay Lenin called us every step of the way to update us. He even informed us he found us a similar car and wanted to see if we would take this as it was available. Just the colour was not what we wanted but he did just want to make us aware.

Of course we declined but it was thoughtful, Lenin kept us up to date with everything all the to collection.

Thanks Lenin.

Picked up my car yesterday from Alan Day VW City branch. All I can say is thank you Lenin - kept me in the loop throughout the process, answered all my queries in a timely manner and was generally extremely helpful.

Highly recommend Lenin Rafael!

Q5 went in for repair, came out with more damage.

Booked my Q5 in for a minor repair and it was painless enough to arrange, though no courtesy was offered, undeterred I gave them the vehicle. Upon completion, I arrived at Alan Day VW and payment was taken for the repairs.

Without being alerted to the damage, I discovered upon approaching my vehicle for the first time since its repairs, that the front left bumper had been badly scratched and the panel was bent out of place. No one uttered a word about this damage and I subsequently had to being it to THEIR attention. Whilst the front of house representatives were professional enough to apologise on the companies behalf and attempt to book a repair a week later, NO COMPENSATION was offered, nor an investigation as to how the damage occurred launched. Its as if they didn't care and would have been fine with me not discovering the damage initially and driving off so that there was no accountability.
Furthermore, I had to repeatedly ask that my expenses were covered (for fuel and congestion charge) for the follow-up repair AND they had the audacity to suggest that, 'as a gesture of goodwill, we filled up your gas by £30'... No, this is not any kind of gesture, rather what had to be done.
Finally, upon receiving my car (now repaired twice), I've noticed the tyre repair kit out of my boot (£50 worth) was missing and there is white paint all over my steering wheel.

In short, take your car elsewhere's for post-sales service and or repair... Or better yet, just steer clear of a VW/Audi group vehicle in the first place.

What a horrible experience

What a horrible experience. Probably the fisrt and last time. Once got home opened the bonnet to check engine bay and mechanic spilled oil all over engine cap and left it uncleabed dirty. Grease marks all over the door. £479 for a service and refused to top up the add blue. Failed to explain vw app. Failed to explain the benefits of the app. I asked the vw device to be fitted which was givven to me in a box and simply told to figure it out your self. I asked for the code of the paint in tge morning and when arrived to collect car a 5.30 pm the advisor said oh the parts department is closed you need to come back again. £479 For a service you expect at least a decent manner.

Great customer service from Norman H

After using a VW/Audi dealership in central London for servicing (and spending £3,700 in 4 months to only receive "take it or leave it" style customer care) I chose to use Alan Day City (E1W 2BF) when the MOT was due. Great customer service (thanks Ryan H) and a video of the car being inspected (thanks Norman F). OK, so it took a couple of days to get the one spare part that was needed for the car to pass the MOT(and I had a bit of a prima donna moment about that - whoops) but Norman saved the day and dealt with me professionally and courteously.
