Chris arranged to meet us at the property at short notice. He was polite, accommodating and positive. He was very attentive to our criteria and offered some good general advice about the process. Chris was everything I would have hoped for from an estate agent

⭐ 0/5 – CHANCELLORS: A LEGAL NIGHTMARE DISGUISED AS AN ESTATE AGENT
Let me save you the horror of dealing with Chancellors. These people are not just incompetent—they are predators. Here’s what they put me through:
They received my money from an insurance adjuster, on 17th June 2026 and refused to pay it back until I filed in county court. They held £662 for 6 weeks and 2 days, only the court application prompted them to pay me MY money!!.
I had to pay court fees—yes, my own money—just to force them to return what they owed me.
They only paid up when I got the county court involved, I had to apply to the court on 2 different occasions for 2 different disputes....yes TWICE over a year apart!! It was hell dealing with these bunch of grifters.. Their staff? A bunch of smug, lazy, and utterly useless imbeciles who couldn’t care less if they were ruining my (or your) life, that includes the local letting and estate agents in Witney/Carterton, Oxfordshire, middle management and the 'directors' at their head office... There are a small number of good people there, all I can advise them is get out as soon as you can..never look back!!
I had to claim interest on top of my own costs because they dragged their feet for so long.
Chancellors don’t just fail—they force you to fight for every penny. They waste your time, drain your money, and test your sanity. I had to end a tenant’s lease early, by taking a break clause, just to escape their incompetence.
DO NOT USE CHANCELLORS. If you do, you’re signing up for financial abuse, legal battles, and a world of regret. Avoid them like your life depends on it—because it does.
Today, Thankfully I'm free of them, they finally paid me MY OWN MONEY to avoid a CCJ....today is a good day..

Tam and Martin were a great help to me both before and after my purchase. As a first time buyer the process was never going to be fun but they made it very easy.

This is a professional organization with people who act professionally in a human way. There's always a scary, nervy side to renting, George at Hereford office took all of that away, helped with the before and followed up in the initial weeks, and then at HQ in Bracknell there's a professional team of people, singling out Maisie for assisting me at the end of my rental period (ref. return of over-paid rent and deposit), if you are a responsible and caring renter, will represent your interests in a professional and human manner. Thank you Chancellors, Mike D (rented a property in Herefordshire with lovely landlord and landlady)

Both Sagarika and Sam were miles beyond helpful with my latest rental portfolio. They were unfailingly pleasant, polite, and tuned in to my needs throughout. They went the extra distance on any snag that came up and sorted it all out with efficiency and speed. I can't speak highly enough of them both, and as I was working a bit more with Sagarika, I would like to particularly praise her attitude and sensitivity and skills. Well done, Hampstead!!

My family's experience with Chancellors, and in particular Senior Lettings Manager Hazem Roushdy, has been extremely disappointing.
During our tenancy, we repeatedly raised concerns about the property and ongoing issues affecting our ability to peacefully enjoy our home. In our experience, these concerns were not resolved satisfactorily despite extensive correspondence over a prolonged period.
As matters escalated, we found ourselves having to seek assistance from multiple external organisations, including the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Environmental Health, Thames Valley Police, Abri and our Member of Parliament.
One issue that remains difficult to understand is Chancellors' position regarding their role. We were told they collected the rent, yet Chancellors also served two Section 21 Notices and one Section 8 Notice during our tenancy. More recently, we were informed that tenancy, maintenance and notices should instead be directed to the landlord or maintenance agent. We have asked for clarification about these differing positions.
At no point do I recall receiving written notification identifying who was responsible for maintenance. The only names provided were Steven Godfrey and David Mansfield, without postal addresses or telephone numbers, making direct communication difficult.
We also experienced delays in relation to electrical safety. The Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) identified unsatisfactory findings, and the remedial works were not completed until approximately a year later.
After more than two years of trying to resolve matters, I remain disappointed by how our concerns were handled and by the lack of clear answers to a number of important questions. My family expected transparency, communication and effective management, but that was not our experience.
Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Chancellors.

I would definitely not use Chancellor in Ascot. Their communication is virtually nil when there are any issues, up until that point they are very helpful but it’s all fake as many salespeople's are, we had no choice as we were buying but if we were selling I would not instruct this agent. You MUST buy an insurance to proceed with an offer, lifetime legal, but they don’t pay out and they will tell you, I have in writing, that the insurance is not mandatory. Agents clearly get a bit of commission off the back of the premium. Our offer was toxic from start to finish with everyone Chancellor recommended, solicitors etc. so much so we pulled out of the purchase. The no chain sale took 28 weeks to get nowhere and we had had enough. There are much better estate agents in Ascot. Our first two viewings for the property were cancelled when we were outside waiting and we should have thought then this is a bad sign. The sales agents had no idea about the property, the parking space belonging to the property was wrong, the cupboard we were shown was wrong, the service charge we were given was wrong, we were told the old tenants belongings would be removed but we were told we had to move them, we were told it was share of freehold but it was leasehold, we were told the sale must be completed in two weeks and we gave up at week 28. Sales are passed to their escalation team and we never heard from anyone until about week 16. We never even got an apology when it all went wrong, we have put it down to a very bad experience

My husband and I worked with Martin and the team from Woking and can’t thank them enough for their professionalism and helpfulness. Martin had great knowledge of the market and advised us in respect of the property we were selling. When we listed our property viewings were lined up and we had offers very quickly. The team were also helpful in sending us properties that were new to market. Our property sold quickly and Martin was available when we had any queries. Everything was handled really well and smoothly. I would highly recommend Chancellors if you are looking to sell your property.

We've been working with Charlotte for a few months to find the right house in our next move and she has done an amazing job.
Not only did she find us the house that ticked all of our boxes, but also Charlotte helped to get everyone ready in the chain in record time.
Fabulous work, thank you.

My husband and I are looking to buy our first home. Charlotte has been amazing throughout this process. Whilst viewing, she is able to answer all of our questions and give us insights into how to style/utilise the properties. Outside of viewing she is very helpful, emailing us properties we may be interested in!

Ella Carrol has been an absolute breath of fresh air to work with and I highly recommend her. She has listened to everything we might be worried about and been an excellent advocate for our property. I felt in really safe hands with her which felt like a contrast to previous experiences with other agents that have left me feeling insecure. She has a really proactive attitude which we really hoped for. Highly recommend selling a house with Ella in Chancellors Witney!

We had chancellors as the property management company for our last tenancy. Hollie Callaghan was professional and very helpful throughout our rental period. She was quick to reply via email or call with any issue we faced and made sure to follow up once the issues were resolved.
Thank you very much for all your help Hollie. Would highly recommend

I viewed a property with Jack at Chancellors and although I didn’t proceed, he was great. He was very professional and informative about the property. He was able to help with all my questions. I can’t recommend chancellors enough.

We are buyers so we had no choice but to use chancellors in Ascot. When you have an offer accepted you have to, as standard apparently, take out an insurance with lifetime legal. They promise to pay out for fees if things go wrong but they don’t. They don’t assist with repo properties, as was ours, but neither chancellor or the insurance company told us this and took our money anyway, its not a lot, but it’s definitely a con. Chancellors, or Chancers, lack communication, honesty and are quick to ignore major issues, the usual not answering my call, or not being available was a common theme. My experience with Roman wasn’t great either and it’s very apparent their business model is the same, I didn’t know they’re a sister company. Their whole vibe is toxic. I will not look at a property if it’s in with either of these agents. There are better agents locally.
