At Grade Potential, we believe the most impactful learning doesn’t need to happen through a screen. It happens face-to-face. It’s not just our preference, it’s the foundation of how we work with students and families every day. We focus on in-person tutoring because we’ve seen what happens when students build real relationships with the people helping them. We match each learner with a local, vetted educator who meets with them at home or at a location that works for the family. It’s familiar, consistent, and built for sustainable progress. We know every family’s needs are different. That’s why we offer virtual sessions when needed, especially for students in rural areas, with inconsistent home time, or who simply prefer learning online. But our model is intentionally built around real-life connection and in-person support because those elements tend to lead to stronger outcomes over time. Whether the subject is elementary reading or graduate-level writing, we help families find the right tutor for their needs, their pace, and their goals. And from first outreach to final session, we handle the logistics, the communication, and the follow-through, so the focus stays where it should: on consistent, high-quality learning.

The tutor is also a student at CPSLO and as such is able to work with our child to accommodate optimum times for tutoring based on Chemistry quizzes and tests, and assignments, etc.

We had a great experience with grade potential 🩷 we signed up Thursday 12/4/25 and by Friday, we had our first session. We had Angela for a tutor and my teenage daughter really hit it off with her. My daughter had 3 sessions! Feels very confident about her test tomorrow. We are so grateful for the quick response and action to help us! Will keep them in mind if we need tutors again!
John is phenomenal
John is phenomenal. He made it incredibly easy for a 45 year old student to succeed doing alegbra that he hasn't done in 20 years.

Our Tuitor Amanda has been very helpful to our son’s intellectual growth. The program was very flexible to fit our family’s busy schedules and needs. Definitely recommending to anyone in need of a tutor for their child.
They made sure the tutor they chose was a good match.
Very helpful in gathering information that would help them match us with a tutor that would be a good fit. Would recommend.

We first enrolled with Grade Potential…
We first enrolled with Grade Potential Tutoring in Austin, Texas last year. The tutor assigned to my daughter was excellent—she enjoyed working with her, and I believe the sessions had a positive impact on her grades.
When summer arrived, we decided to pause tutoring services since our schedule becomes much busier due to frequent out-of-state travel. I notified Grade Potential that we would not be using tutoring services during the summer, requested that billing be stopped, and indicated we would resume once the school year began.
However, I later noticed continued billing from Grade Potential despite my previous notification. Assuming it was an oversight, I contacted their office and spoke with a representative who reversed the charges. I believed that resolved the issue and that we would restart services when school resumed.
To my surprise, while reviewing my credit card statement later, I discovered several additional unauthorized charges from Grade Potential. I contacted them again, and while the charges were again reversed, I expressed frustration and requested that no further billing occur unless we were actively using their services.
When the new school year began, our previous tutor was no longer with the company, so we requested a replacement. The new tutor was excellent as well. Unfortunately, her visit reminded me to review my account again—at which point I discovered three more unauthorized charges made during the months we were not receiving services.
I contacted the company a third time to request refunds and expressed my displeasure with their billing practices. I was referred to a manager, to whom I explained the situation. The manager offered to refund only two of the three unauthorized payments, stating that their system required at least one charge to keep the account active.
This explanation is unacceptable. Their internal computer system should not result in customers being charged for services not rendered. I made it clear that I expected a full refund and explained that we would continue only if the issue was resolved. Otherwise, we would terminate our business relationship.
The manager was dismissive, spoke over me during the conversation, and was generally unprofessional. As a result, I decided to discontinue doing business with Grade Potential Tutoring. This is disappointing because the tutors themselves were excellent. Unfortunately, the company’s billing practices and poor customer service overshadow their good work.
I will no longer be using Grade Potential Tutoring and would advise others to proceed with caution unless they are comfortable being billed for services they did not receive.
I have since contacted my credit card company, explained the situation, and was promptly reimbursed for the unauthorized charges.
Unreliable, disorganized company
This company will happily take your money, and give you nothing but one delay after another in actually matching you with tutor. Grade potential is unreliable in every sense of the word.
This is a scam company operating under…
This is a scam company operating under several different names Tutor Hero, Grade Potential Tutoring, Grade Potential, and several others. They had elaborate descriptions of their tutoring process to lure me in and as it turned out the reviews were fake. Do not trust this company as they will bilk hard-working single moms like me out of hundreds of dollars and all I was looking for was a tutor for my accounting class. Now I will not be able to buy groceries this week or pay for my son's summer soccer.
