GOBSMACKED
I was dreading the postman calling each day as i was expecting a parking charge for an over stay at Rushden Lakes shopping centre. When the letter arrived after about two weeks my heart sank as the first thing i saw was the letter heading Highview Parking.I then looked at the back of the letter to see how much the fine was,and also payment details. But i could not spot anything that was relevant.I then read the letter and was gobsmacked to read that on this occasion as a goodwill gesture a parking charge will not be issued, but was warned that any future over stays would result in a charge being issued. I just could not believe this unexpected and very kind gesture from Highview Parking. So many parking companies receive terrible press and reviews, but Highview on this occasion have bucked the trend.Thank you Highview
One day 25.11.2019
One day 25.11.2019. I got a parking charge.i don't make a habit of this park, but I had no choice this particular time. I parked up and went to the bank to transfer a large amount of money to Sheffield Council for the purchase of the council house we lived in, also to get a insurance quote for the property. It took a long time so we gave car reg number to the girl who was dealing with us. Needles to say we did everything wright. I didn't pay and sent an appeal in.i have been enindated with letters and threats and it now stands at £300. I've just received another letter, some sort of court letter. This company never took any notice of the appeal nor did they about the bank with my reg. I didn't choose to park in the place in question, there was no choice. I did everything I could. At the time, I was 70 years old, my wife 68, both disabled, badge used on the day, it's pretty obvious it takes us a lot longer to get to places and return from places on top of getting the job done. So, I can't afford to pay this and under the circumstances, why should I.
I may be adding to this shortly.
David Cropper.
Was basically trapped in a car park but still fined
I'll try to keep this brief.
I sometimes use a retail park which limits its usage to 3 hours max or you have to pay a big fine.
There have been occasions in the past where I overstayed due to fault of my own e.g. forgetting my car was parked there for however long and when I've received fines on this occasion - it's been annoying - but I accept I was at fault and thus paid the fine with no complaints and therefore can't really have a go at them for that.
Recently however, I parked in the car park for just over 2 hours and tried to leave but there was a long queue of traffic that didn't move - to give you an idea I sat in the traffic for over an hour and it probably moved about 5 car lengths during that time - and as a result I went over the 3 hours.
When I mentioned this in my appeal to them they dismissed it even if though if they looked at the CCTV for that day they'd see no car could have left in a reasonable time period. They stated it was my responsibility to ensure I left the facilities within 3 hours but what could I have physically done to get out? Rammed all the cars out of the way? Somehow known it would take me ALMOST 2 HOURS to get out of a car park? This was not a typical amount of traffic for the car park by any means either even employees at the shops there had never seen anything like it.
I don't mind paying a parking fine if it's my fault, but I really don't understand what I could have done in this instance? If I tried leaving 5 minutes before 3 hours or something then fine but I tried leaving almost an hour before and couldn't get out?!? Not even like I was technically parked for 3 hours either! I will try to fight this but sadly I will probably end up paying a big fine.
Fined for no reason
Two hour free patient parking. Fines me for being there for 45 mins for an appointment. Absolutely incompetent and laughable.
0 stars for this junk company that is…
0 stars for this junk company that is trying to rape people. They online payment doesn’t work as like their telephone payment doesn’t work either and charges you 2p per minute for bullshitttt. Im so ungry😡😤
I paid for my ticket and I have proof…
I paid for my ticket and I have proof of payment and the appeal was rejected. They reckon my car registration number was not entered correctly. They are liars and a big scam operating in London. It is a breach of contract on their behalf and lots of customers still pays for penalty tickets which were wrongly issued due to their incompetence to avoid the hassle of appealing against the penalty tickets.
If you wish to maintain good customer…
If you wish to maintain good customer relations and public appreciation and respect, epecially if you are a Health or Council related company ......... IMO
Do Not Employ This Business!!
100 pound fine given to a 66 year old disabled person who pulled into a Health Centre for under 20 minutes because of illness!
Appalling lying company
Absolutely disgusting, doesn’t matter if you prove that you didn’t violate the terms of parking they dispute your appeal and say that you have not provided any actual evidence. If they were to check for example CCTV like I said for them to do then they would have seen I was using the parking space for the correct purpose. They clearly do not look into any actual evidence you provide which is even worse when the reason my registration was not logged was because their machine wasn’t working. So due to a fault of theirs it’s apparently now my problem and I’m being forced to pay £60 despite me providing complete evidence to back my own case
This is effectively an organised crime…
This is effectively an organised crime ring ran in conjuction with DCB Legal LTD and DCB debt collectors.
It's been so successful at ripping people off using threatograms, fake legal jargon, incorrect applications of law, and exploitative court action that both Highview Parking (now Group Nexus) and DCB legal have been employing more and more people to the point they can't cope with the volume of work. It's absolutely immoral and these firms needs to be sanctioned from inflating invoices to £160-600 for parking fines that originally start as a minor contravention with penalty value £60-100.
Complain to your MP.
Take your fine to court 100% of the time and pay less than they are trying to rip you off for.
This should be illegal and this company should be shut down for improper conduct!!!!!! Absolutely digusting.
Worst company ever
Worst company ever, losing customers for the companies that employ them.
How reputable companies like pure gym want to associate their name with these cowboys is beyond me.
Had I county court fine by these people…
Had I county court fine by these people ,tried to come to a compromise and pay weekly ,it was refused and taken to court without my knowledge and fined £295 in my absence .
Legal criminals these people .
Boycott Beacon Retail Park in Milton Keynes
I visited Beacon Retail Park in Milton Keynes for shopping and then because of several minutes of overstaying ( based on debt recovery agent over the phone) without sending the PCN, they have eventually charged me over £200 including debt recovery and other charges! Please avoid going to this business retail park. I think we have to altogether boycott this business retail park. this greedy parking operator should be kicked out of the site by the landowner. That's unfair to charge own paid customers with some extra cost. I will never go there anymore.😠
I went to court with this lot and won
Ok so i just thought i would put this out there. Highview kindly got their debt collectors to send me a collection letter for £140 for an alleged ticket in Norwich back in June 2016 (yes you read it right, June 16)
The debt collectors were the lot from TV called DCBL who said it was up to me to prove I dont owe it. I asked them to get their client to provide all the correspondence they have sent to my over this period of time as I appealed this ticket which I won. They said they cant do that so if I didnt agree to pay it they would take it to court.
I told them to crack on with it an in the meantime I wrote to DCBL asking for the correspondence before I would do anything but all they sent me was a copy of the original ticket. I pointed out that I also requested copies of all correspondence sent to me over the years which they didnt do. So I then received the court papers and had my hearing last week which I won. The judge slammed them for their lack of corresppondence and also refused their appeal on the grounds they had very little chance of winning it.
So my advice is dont let these lot bully you into paying. If you feel you have grounds to not pay then see it through to court.
In possible to pay
Not possible to pay online (£1.50 admin charge) or by phone(2p per minute and does not work or recognise the PC ref no?) the only option is a cheque by post with extra admin fee and no guarantee it will ever get there.feels like a huge scam to me…..
Legalised way of robbing people
Legalised way of robbing people, they don't want to help or discuss matters just pass on to a 3rd party, like a drug dealer that cant collect they're own debts and have to pay someone else to do it for them. Scumbags
Biggest cowboys ever beware of credit card payment
I was shopping in Asda at Edmonton Green London, on the day in question, where I paid for my parking in Asda and was not aware that I had additional charges were due as it said I can just drive out.
As you can imagine I was extremely annoyed to receive a PCN.
I tried to make a payment on the telephone for my PCN it ended up costing me a further £20 because it kept asking me to input the details of my credit card over and over again.
It took 6 attempts to make the payment.
Even though it says it takes credit cards their system does not recognise it, by the time you realise you have already racked up a huge phone bill!
Disgraceful!
There should be an option for no stars as one star is more than they deserve.
Update 13/2/22 since this review I have been waiting for a refund of my PCN and I have been fobbed off by Park Jockey the owners of the parking scheme. I was told it was refunded on December 29th 2021, when I asked for proof of payment they said it is not for them to provide.
Highview are bad for their clients, & bad for the individual
Highview Parking's appeal process sets out to "catch you out" rather than to genuinely acknowledge any mitigation. In my case, they disingenuously ignored the explanation I had provided in order to twist what I had said and try to incriminate me further (though I had done nothing wrong in the first place, and was only trying to be honest and transparent with them in the interests of "doing the right thing").
It is a shame they approach things with such a stubbornly antagonistic attitude, because it not only disadvantages the individual (e.g. me) but also their own clients (e.g. the supermarkets etc who trust Highview to manage their car parks). Unfortunately I know of a lot of people who now shop with a nearby competitor instead, after hearing so many stories of Highview treating people unfairly and unprofessionally at the store car park in question. In the modern world (with increasing awareness of fairness and mental health) customers do not look kindly on companies who associate themselves with cruel and disingenuous practices.
I understand they have a job to do - and when part of that job is to issue fines, you'll never be loved and popular. But a small amount of sense and compassion would go a long way.
Cowboys
Shame there isn't an option for no stars. This company is criminal
Minus five stars for lack of compassion
If there were an option to award minus 5 stars to this company I would take it. They have been haranguing my elderly parents with an ever increasing car parking fine after they parked on the Marsh Street car park in Hanley on 25th June this year. Finding that the machine was not operating, my eighty-two-year-old father was unable to pay by any other means as he does not have a mobile phone. He left my mother in the car, with the coins, while he attended an emergency optician's appointment, lasting 26 minutes. (My mother had been discharged from hospital the previous day, having suffered a stroke). We have appealed against the fine to POPLA with no success and my father is now having to resort to using his heating allowance to pay the fine which has increased to £125. What an utterly heartless company to subject an elderly, vulnerable couple to the stress of these fines, and shame on POPLA for failing to recognise how my parents have been on the receiving end of discrimination against the elderly.
If I could give zero stars I would
If I could give zero stars I would. Not sure how this company even allowed to operate. Second time a PCN issued for the same parking site with the first time successfully appealed. Apparently their camera in Kingsway Retail Car Park (Derby) captures the entry and exit incorrectly causing a lot of stress and waste of time to obtain and provide the proof. I will complain to the Kingsway Retail Park (I am to never use that retail park again!! - they are at risk of loosing customers due to this parking service!!) and will take this to the small claims court for a compensation for the time wasted collecting evidence. Absolutely shambolic.
