id sack the person responsible for this awful system that never works and blocks access to products. who on earth would use this system to deliver their product? shear madness.........................

I am writing to formally complain about the business practices of software companies (specifically Sonnox and IK Multimedia), which I believe are in breach of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 regarding unfair contract terms.

I have invested over £5,000 in legal software licenses. However, these companies are effectively preventing me from exercising my right to resell my property by imposing exorbitant 'license transfer fees'. In some instances, the fee is as high as £50 per individual plugin.

This is not a reasonable administrative cost; it is a predatory financial barrier designed to destroy the secondary market. By making the cost of transfer nearly equal to the market value of the product, these companies are:

Confiscating my digital assets by making them unsellable.

Engaging in monopolistic behavior by forcing users into a closed ecosystem.

Circumventing established case law regarding the exhaustion of distribution rights for software.

I request that you investigate these fees as they constitute an unfair burden on the consumer and a clear abuse of market position. A 'transfer' is an automated database entry change that should cost a nominal fee, not a ransom.

Terrible software and company, just awful with bugs and the support is horrible.

I'm finally just giving up and removing iLok and any associated plugins from my system. It means losing out on some plugins that I use frequently but I just cannot waste anymore of my time with this awful product.

I've been waiting a week for them to fix a "server connection error" problem. This is preventing me from making any progress in my music production. I've searched online and many people are having problems with this activation method.

It's been 20 days and I still don't have a solution, they've barely responded to me.I won't buy anything that uses it again.

These scum bags have made music production significantly more difficult for paying users.

Just so bad. Completely broke my computer, was a neverending wormhole of problems that made DAW unusable. Never let their scraping bots on your harddrive.

iLok insists that the same debit card used to purchase ZDT twice in the past is no longer "recognized." The customer service rep who responded to my complaint just keeps telling me that I don't know what I'm doing. I am the organization's treasurer but he continues to claim that I must be entering incorrect information, as if I'm the one who's responsible for the issue. I've gone back and forth on it a dozen times and the problems is not resolved. What a horrible company to deal with!

Very cumbersome system that does not add any security and even adds another surface for attackers to steal your private info.

iLok is honestly the worst software I've ever dealt with. It's always a problem, and I can't understand why companies continue to use this god awful system. Every time I try to access my licenses, there's an issue—whether it's logging in, syncing, or just plain not recognizing my iLok. It's incredibly frustrating and a huge waste of time. I really wish there were better alternatives out there because this experience has been nothing but headaches. Save yourself the trouble and look for other solutions!

This company is outdated, and using very questionable business practices. They need to make changes to their policies and pricing. I urge anyone wanting to buy products that use the ilok system to think twice before going ahead with it, as ilok , not the actual product company are the major problem here, and ilok have shown they couldn't careless about consumers.

Awful company, You can't change your user ID unless you pay loads of money to transfer them, and risk losing your licences. I've paid A LOT of money for them and it's completely stupid that I should pay for a licence I've ALREADY paid for. Not being able to change your user ID in 2025 is ridiculous.

The application is ridiculously bad, crashes my computer, makes it a pain to transfer licences if you lose access to your old computer. No excuse for a bit of software to be so outrageously terrible in 2024. I've just sacrificed a load of plugins I've paid for over the last few years after reading countless experiences of people having their computers destroyed by this atrocious garbage. Don't want this trash ruining the new computer I just paid a thousand quid for because my name isn't Rick Beato and I can't afford to waste money like that. The developers and the management of this company should be ashamed to have themselves associated with this honking slice of absolute excrescence, and no self-respecting plugin developr should be tainting their brand by relying on this outdated and unneccessary rubbish. Unfortunately I imagine the team behind this abomination are incapable of shame hence it's continued, unforgivable existence.
