Excellent service from our first visit to Planet…

From our first visit to the Planet Showroom in Kendal we were impressed. We were greeted by a friendly polite receptionist who listened to our queries. A home visit was arranged and a salesman came to visit us. Again he was friendly and helpful - and professional. He explained all the options for us, showed us brochures and took details. Subsequently we were visited by a Surveyor who took very detailed measurements and helped us to choose items like door handles. We were given a date for the work to commence and all the finance details.
Work commenced on an agreed date. First visit from an electrician to remove the light and doorbell. Then on the agreed date the Fitter arrived on time. He spent three days with us, as agreed, and worked in a friendly and professional manner to erect our new porch, including a pitched roof. He was Farley, and he paid great attention to detail. It was a pleasure to have him at our home. When he had completed his work he took away all the rubbish from our old porch. The site was left clean and tidy. He then contacted the plasterer who did an excellent job which took about a day. The next visit was from a carpenter who carried out woodwork. The electrician returned to install a new ceiling light. Finally when the job was complete we were visited by a cleaning team.
We are absolutely delighted with the finished job. It looks good and the materials are of a very high quality. We were finally contacted by the office to arrange final payment.
We have no hesitation in recommending Planet Home Improvements and will certainly contact them again for any work we require in the future.

Nice Job

I had all my windows replaced by Planet Home Improvements. Although all the windows were replaced in one day, the window sills, a vent and a window handle hadn't been received from the factory when they came to install the windows. This meant I had to wait another few days for the window sills to be fitted, and another week before they came to fit the missing vent and window handle. It would have been better if they had waited until they had received everything before coming to replace the windows. Apart from that the windows look good and the people involved in installing them, were friendly, polite and worked efficiently.

Friendly installers who never stopped…

Friendly installers who never stopped working for 2 days. Did an excellent job although there was a hiccup with the size of some of the frame (not particularly anyone’s fault). New frame part manufactured that day and delivered the next.Fitters made good and the new glass that had to be ordered was fitted the following week. Cleaning team came a couple of days later and was left with an excellent sparkling conservatory.

We have just completed our extension…

We have just completed our extension with Planet home improvements. The team have replaced a 40 year old cold and leaking conservatory.

It took a while to get things started but once teams were on site everything went smoothly. We are now waiting for completion on Thursday with the cleaning team booked in for a morning visit.

Without exception the teams that worked on site were fantastic, very professional and friendly.

Like all builds communication is the key, we had long conversations with the surveyor, building manager and project manager. We got the build over the line within 7 weeks.

These are not cheap products but when you see the work that goes in to construction you can see why.

We were particularly impressed with the 20 year structure guarantee and 10 year building guarantee. We think the structure will outlast the rest of the house 😂

Thanks once again to everyone involved.

Effient and friendly service.

The initial visit to the showroom was a good experience. Very friendly and not at all pushy. As a result we had five windows and two doors replaced. Two of the windows are very awkward to get to but this did not phase either the surveyor or the fitters.
We were told that it would be two or three days to fit but was all sorted in one and a half. The fitters were polite and did their best to minimise mess and clean up which was lovely. We would be very happy to recommend Planet to anyone.

Excellent service, quality and installation

Contacted Planet in August '25, and had a quote. Kevin was incredibly knowledgeable, experienced, and patient with my several versions (with and without doors, different options for a french door). Called his superior to also check whether we could specify no trickle vents in our circumstances. Also had a quote from a different, national company, who were several £k cheaper, but were incredibly pushy, whereas Kevin was just the right combination of keeping in touch but not too pushy.

Didn't get to actually buying until January. Purchase was smooth, and process clear. Survey for pulse test (airtightness) arranged easily, and fitting date confirmed for approx 6 weeks from purchase. This was reconfirmed 2 and 1 week prior.

Fitting was easy, clean, tidy and quick - quoted 3 days and done in 2. All windows and doors are as specified and incredibly minimal damage to paintwork.

Only slight gripe is that Planet play on their local, experienced team, but appear to have now a partnership or buyout by CO Home Improvements - I was surprised that this was the payment account, as I was not aware of this.

Ongoing issues finally sorted

I have had ongoing problems with the Installation of my front door, carried out by the old Planet company, several years ago.
New planet rectified these quickly and efficiently after years of hassle and ongoing remedial visits.

Conservatory transformed

We are very pleased with the new roof on our large conservatory which has transformed an almost unusable space into a comfortable room. The project, which included a redesigned shape, effective insulation and improved electrics was completed pretty seamlessly by a team of tradespeople. A minor hitch over replastering was addressed with apologies. We were particularly impressed by the quality of the workmanship and the end result is even better than we had hoped.

This is the 2nd time I have used…

This is the 2nd time I have used Planet, kendal. It was great that the same salesman has dealt with me both times as I find him very pleasant and easy to chat too. He puts no pressure on you which i appreciate. New windows were ordered and communication was clear and detailed. Measuring up was fast and efficient, date set for installation. Unfortunately the first installation team that came to the house were incredibly messy and I was very disappointed with the first stage. I received no communication from the 'installation manager' when i tried to contact them. Fortunately that team never returned and I have to say that the next team that came were completely different, very professional and I was pleased with their workmanship and finish which is why I have still scored a 5 star review.
My house is now cosy and warm , thank you.

First class experience

We used Planet for the windows and doors in our renovation and extension project. They were very helpful and supplied product in batches as we were ready for them, which other potential suppliers had not been able to do. We have had a couple of issues since we moved in but these have been resolved quickly and efficiently by Planet. No fuss. Came when they said they would and problem solved. I am very glad we chose Planet and would definitely recommend them.

Great after sales service

One year after fitting new windows one of the trickle vents broke. I reported it to Planet who promptly sent a technician out and replaced the faulty part. Good communication and after sales service.

Excellent Company

When a stray cat moved in with us we soon tired of letting him in and out so decided to replace a tired looking door with a new double glazed one, as well as fitting a cat flap. Someone from this Kendal glazing Company visited us to assess and discuss the best door and also the fitting of a Microchipped type of cat flap.
The fitter arrived on the appointed day and time and installed the new door. The result is perfect - the new door is lovely and the cat flap superbly fitted. The old door and all the packaging was removed. The fitter was lovely and would make a great cat owner! Oscar the cat is also very happy with his new independence and regularly brings us some breakfast. An all round success.

Please don't use this company!

Its hard to know where to begin with the appalling experience we have had. Will cover the main points for the purpose of warning those thinking of using Planet South Lakes.

The first point to note is that Planet isn't actually Planet anymore. As we discovered, they have been bought out by Clearview and chose to keep the name. Presuming this is because of the positive reputation Planet had - please be aware this is NOT the same company anymore.

Had our conservatory roof changed to a warm roof. This was done during the worst weather and the property was left overnight with not one attempt at any protection. Long story short this caused significant water damage to the walls, floor, electrics and Internet. Needed taking back to brick. Our project manager left and when we finally got hold of our new one he said they wouldnt cover repair of floor. Took legal advise and had to write to them to explain their responsibilities under the LAW to get the damage repaired. I wont go into all the details as you'd be here all day listening to the dire experience but will cover the main points.

- Communication is awful. Good luck trying to get hold of your project manager who will be based elsewhere (ours was Manchester - 2 hours from where we live). They also leave the company and you are blissfully unaware and trying to ring them for weeks, until you try head office to find out what's going on. Contractors will not turn up when expected (when you've taken time off work) and others will turn up out of the blue when you're at work. Lack of communication applies up the chain of command - requested multiple times to speak to our project managers boss (the Operations Director) but to this day he has never been in contact with us. Was told "he doesn't talk to customers so it'll just be me" (from Project Manager). Reached out to them on socials to try and just speak to someone when Project Manager was AWOL, Marketing Director also failed to ring me when she told me via message she would. You just get passed back to your project manager even though they are part of the problem.

- Quality of work is terrible. What they do is subcontract to another company (in our case Storm based in Whitehaven 1.5hrs away from us) who then find the cheapest possible local guy to come and do the job. No care taken and no pride in works. Won't go into details but just think cowboy builders and you're in the right area.

- Work is painfully slow. What they advertise as "5 day roof change from start to finish" took us 18 weeks and we did so much chasing ourselves. Had a half repaired room for Christmas. Dont worry though, they are super fast at getting in touch with you when they want paying!

I hand on heart, need to warn anyone thinking about using Planet to seriously reconsider. The stress and worry we have endured has been beyond what we ever thought would happen and we deeply regret using the company. The financial worry was also put on us over Christmas when they refused to repair the damage and we had to fight tooth and nail to just get the room put back to normal after they left the room open to torrential weather. I never, ever want to come across this company again so take heed!
