Please don't use this company!

Its hard to know where to begin with the appalling experience we have had. Will cover the main points for the purpose of warning those thinking of using Planet South Lakes.

The first point to note is that Planet isn't actually Planet anymore. As we discovered, they have been bought out by Clearview and chose to keep the name. Presuming this is because of the positive reputation Planet had - please be aware this is NOT the same company anymore.

Had our conservatory roof changed to a warm roof. This was done during the worst weather and the property was left overnight with not one attempt at any protection. Long story short this caused significant water damage to the walls, floor, electrics and Internet. Needed taking back to brick. Our project manager left and when we finally got hold of our new one he said they wouldnt cover repair of floor. Took legal advise and had to write to them to explain their responsibilities under the LAW to get the damage repaired. I wont go into all the details as you'd be here all day listening to the dire experience but will cover the main points.

- Communication is awful. Good luck trying to get hold of your project manager who will be based elsewhere (ours was Manchester - 2 hours from where we live). They also leave the company and you are blissfully unaware and trying to ring them for weeks, until you try head office to find out what's going on. Contractors will not turn up when expected (when you've taken time off work) and others will turn up out of the blue when you're at work. Lack of communication applies up the chain of command - requested multiple times to speak to our project managers boss (the Operations Director) but to this day he has never been in contact with us. Was told "he doesn't talk to customers so it'll just be me" (from Project Manager). Reached out to them on socials to try and just speak to someone when Project Manager was AWOL, Marketing Director also failed to ring me when she told me via message she would. You just get passed back to your project manager even though they are part of the problem.

- Quality of work is terrible. What they do is subcontract to another company (in our case Storm based in Whitehaven 1.5hrs away from us) who then find the cheapest possible local guy to come and do the job. No care taken and no pride in works. Won't go into details but just think cowboy builders and you're in the right area.

- Work is painfully slow. What they advertise as "5 day roof change from start to finish" took us 18 weeks and we did so much chasing ourselves. Had a half repaired room for Christmas. Dont worry though, they are super fast at getting in touch with you when they want paying!

I hand on heart, need to warn anyone thinking about using Planet to seriously reconsider. The stress and worry we have endured has been beyond what we ever thought would happen and we deeply regret using the company. The financial worry was also put on us over Christmas when they refused to repair the damage and we had to fight tooth and nail to just get the room put back to normal after they left the room open to torrential weather. I never, ever want to come across this company again so take heed!

Great service

Great service. Two doors and a window installed. From the initial consultation to fitting was smooth service. Good quality materials and good service. Will definitely use Planet again.

I was impressed by all personnel and…

I was impressed by all personnel and the way they responded from the initial visit, through communication with the office staff to the fitter.
All were polite respectful and efficient. I was kept up to date with the progress of tge project and I am very pleased with the work done.

Great response from the customer service team

Great response from the customer service team. We had a problem with the rainwater down pipe of the new extension coming apart in strong winds. Contacted the service team , sent in a few pictures to show the problem and within an hour they had arranged an appointment for the following week. Fitter attended and added some more pipe clips. All sorted, good service.

Terrible service with no communication

First the positive, the guy came out and measured up, very professional and the receptionist ladies have been very helpful.
But that's as far as it goes:
First instalation didn't arrive as the door was sent to the wrong warehouse, several call later and it was arranged for the next Friday.
Second instalation same story, except this time after a bit of investigation it turns out the door that was made, that was STILL in the wrong warehouse, was also the wrong door. After several calls nobody could get back to let me know what was happening.
Monday rolls round and still nothing
First call I was promised a call back, nothing
Second call I was promised a call back, nothing.
Third call and eventually spoke to a manager who promised me a call back, which eventually arrived 10 mins before they shut.
Multiple apologies offers to rush the door.
As if I am going to trust a rush job when they can't do a normal speed job.
Refund demanded. Business taken else where.
If only somebody had rung me back without me having to make 10+ calls first

We had a new kitchen door fitted

We had a new kitchen door fitted by Planet Windows
We chose them because we have had a new front door installed and a new bay window in the past, and as we were very pleased with all the work done that’s why we went back to them
We developed a fault with the kitchen door lock rang up & was assigned someone who came at the time arranged and adjusted things perfectly
Definitely would recommend Planet Windows

The fitted door is very good and far…

The fitted door is very good and far better than doors we have had fitted in previous properties.It looks great and feels as if it’s built to last just as the Planet people said it would be and not to forget that all the staff that we met were first class.

Pleasant staff delivering high quality products.

After contacting Planet about our needs, a representative came round soon after to offer ideas and to explain the process. Once things got underway, a second person came round to ‘measure up’. Both were polite and friendly and explained things clearly.
A date was given for installation but this was not suitable for us. It was no problem re-scheduling and the installation was completed quickly on the appropriate day. The installer was, again, polite and friendly and the workmanship was excellent. No touch up to paint work needed which was amazing. Very pleased with the finished product.

Couldn’t fault Planet windows

Couldn’t fault Planet windows. The fitters arrived on time and were very polite. The windows fitted are great, really pleased. Fitters cleaned and tidied up when finished.

SLAM SHUT DOORS, DREADFUL

IT STARTED WITH THEM SUPPLYING THE WRONG WINDOWS, WE MADE A DEAL WITH THEM AND ACCEPTED THE WINDOWS. HAD A FRONT AND BACK DOORS FITTED, CALLED "SLAM SHUT DOORS" AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE. SLAM THEM TO CLOSE OR LOCKS DO NOT FULLY ENGAGE. ENGINEER BEEN BACK NUMEROUS TIMES TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS AND WE ARE STILL LEFT WITH DOORS REQUIRING YOU TO SLAM THEM. "WE WISH WE HAD NEVER HEARD OF PLANET HOME IMPROVEMENTS". IT HAS TAKEN FOUR MONTHS TO GET TO WHERE WE ARE NOW. ARE WE SATISFIED NOT A CHANCE. WE HATE THESE DOORS

Serious issues with aftercare

We had our conservatory upgraded in June 2025. We immediately encountered issues and reached out to them for assistance. Most of the problems were eventually resolved, but we are still facing significant issues with the doors they installed. 6 months later they either won't shut properly or lock at all. We have phoned, emailed and been into the store and now filled in a complaints form. Still waiting for the doors to be fixed.

Damaged the property during the…

Damaged the property during the installation. Don't send building regulations certificate. Never collected the rubbish for weeks after the works took place. Claimed to give it a deep clean, never really happened.

New Windows

I had a great experience with Planet, as I had a new front door fitted earlier this year and then decided to have all my windows renewed. They completed the job very quickly and the quality was exceptional.

I did have one issue with the frosted window in the Bathroom as you could see through a very tiny hole, but because it was in my eyeline I could see it all the time. They had no hesitation in replacing this pane, which is due to be installed shortly.

I always like to use a local business if I can.

Friendly, helpful and efficient

Superb swift service

Made a call due to lack of response from another company. Advised about Planet so made the call. Rep was here in a few days. Knew his stuff. Guided me on window design which was different from what i thought i wanted but seeing it virtually on the computer it was clear he was right. Few days after the surveyor turned up. 6 weeks later wi ndows fitted on the date given. Luckily no manufacture delays. Two lads turned up so ftoendly. Windows fit. Left clean and tidy. Couldnt have been a more simple and streamlined service. More windows and doors to do next year and i will without doubt go to Planet SL. Girl in showroom fab too who took my payment.
