Provident Personal Credit Reviews 

I had a faultless 4 year relationship with this company and a fantastic agent. As many have said previously, the company underwent changes which resulted in my agent resigning.

I now have incorrect information on my credit file and various members of staff calling or knocking on my door whenever they like even though I have paid in exactly the same way for 4 years.

My official complaint is still unresolved 4 months on and has been referred to the Financial Ombudsman. Ironically, the Ombudsman are struggling to get information out of Provident too!

I don't think Provident in it's current incarnation will be around much longer.

The worst company to work for and do business with. They have no work ethics and claim that they are a 'responsible lender' and 'lend a helping hand when others don't'. Liars they only lend a hand to ensure that they achieve their targets even if it means putting people into debt.

This Xmas they will push vulnerable customers who are already struggling with debt to renew their existing loans or take out new loans so that they can achieve their targets, is this responsible lending?

And for those customers who genuinely need help they decline because they choose to due to personal reasons putting aside their professional responsibilities.

I say all of this as I am an ex employee of Provident and know how they work and how they treat its staff and customers.

They don't treat their staff any better which is why I ended up leaving, management are unprofessional and turn business matters into personal issues and mistreat you because they believe they have the authority to do so.

There are other responsible lender's out there, take the time to choose wisely.

This company Loaned me 750 but decided to take 4 weeks payment from me immediately, meaning I had 642 pounds by the time the agent had left my house. I've been charged interest on the full amount and was told that unless I made that payment on the spot she wouldn't loan me the cash which is preying upon the needy!

Since then I've had an agent turn up at my parents house divulging my personal information even though I've been paying over the phone in advance ever since taking the loan as I didn't wish my parents to know I'd used these loan sharks who clearly target the poor. I put a complaint to them back in July and I keep receiving generic emails from them telling me they are taking my complaint seriously and promise to get back to me within 14 days ever since. When I call up I am unable to speak to the relevant department and keep getting promised by them that I will get a resolution. It's literally been 3 months! How are they getting away with this?

I would honestly say it's better to suffer without their money than suffer with it. They're a disgusting operation and have no respect for their customers as can clearly be seen by their recent performances.

I would like to say that from recent experience provident are incompetent liars that make false promises and they like to pick on the little people by trying to charge made up interest rates as they have tried it TO ME.I was lied to by an area manager called Mr Sha who told me twice he was coming to discuss a loan.which he didn't even contact me about it no longer being an appointment,leaving me to wait for nothing.after I had paid my first and only loan in full.they tried to charge me £25 interest on a full repayment 10 days after taking the loan.I have complained and raised the issue with head office and the company now is refusing to loan me at all.....I advise people take other courses of lending and do not get lied to or charged made up interest rates.MAX DAVIS

Until all the unnecessary recent changes made by this company, it worked perfectly fine as it always had, for the x amount of years, I was a customer at least. Yes the interest is extortionate, and sadly vulnerable people are targeted. But desperation fuels the need. People with bad credit or low incomes are in the unfortunate situation of having no bargaining power. That's why companies like Provident have been so successful. UP TILL NOW that is. It's a complete mess. No one calls to collect my husband's payments since our lovely regular agent left. It's a complete and utter shambles. Provident can longer call themselves a door to door service. It's appalling. No wonder Mr Peter Crook (appropriate name) resigned.

Absolutely disgusted with Provident. I am a longstanding customer who had a fabulous agent until June when provident changed their working regulations. I like thousands of their loyal customers have had no collections for weeks, and worse no contact. Unable to get through to Customer Services, complaints go unaswered and unresolved. Existing customers who have refinanced regulrly are being declined in numbers

Would give no stars if i could.I have had the last £85 to pay off my loan for ages and no one has turned up and no one answers calls. Had another loan off a new company my previous agent has moved to as she warned me this would happen. Finally found a complaint number and it sent me to Satsuma loans. This company is barely legal anymore!

Very expensive way to borrow, try anything and everything else before you borrow from these people.

Will not recommend this company again I understand they have anew system in place but it the customers that r suffering once my current loan is paid of and my partners we will not be returning cutomers

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. incorrectly store and share inaccurate information ALLEGEDLY breaching data protection. SAY I LIVE AT DIFFERENT ADDRESS refused to remove or correct credit file they responded "i can confirm the address information will not have any negative impact on your credit file". causing credit file to be inaccurate and state living less than 3 years.

Provident just like to pick on the weak and vulnerable & over charge them hi interest rates, So they can line their greedy pockets with your money, Do not every use provident 1557.7% APR, Go get a 2% rate from some one decent, Stay away from the loan sharks

I had a loan with this company they were ok until i run into difficulties and could only pay £5 or £10 a week instead of my usual £60 a week, the caller stopped calling for the money so I called the office they told me I could pay over the phone, so when I did phone the automated system was asking me to pay all my arrears, then before I knew they sold my debt for peanuts. There just a fat joke of a company. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

got a.house visit from ao called amanda who covers surrey...rude..unprofessional...welcoming..her to my flat not even words of appreciation..then to business...banged on about first signing consent...as if people have all the time to wait for her visit 2x in a day...then reckoning..said my so called 1000 pound loan was only up to 1000 pound and not guaranteed...fair enough but why lie to people and.mislead them..they already credit checked me for Gods sake and only to be told it may be 100 poud loan for 6 momths...total bullocks company!!! wasted my time and day for getting nonwhere..
