The low rating is not a reflection of the mobile mechanic that came out to service my car today as he was absolutely brilliant, Kev was really pleasant and friendly considering the awful weather he had to work in he still had a smile on his face and stopped for a chat with a warm brew bless him.
The low rating is the poor organisation unfortunately from the RAC Head Office itself.
My Service should have been done last Saturday but I got a call last Thursday to cancel as there weren’t enough mechanics, fair enough I accepted that and we moved the date to today.
Head Office then called me again this Thursday to try to cancel AGAIN with the same reason, not acceptable I said so they honoured today.
Mechanic called me yesterday to say will be here at 12:30 today, didn’t show up today, no call from anyone to explain why the no show, so I called the head office who organised for Kev to come out to me instead….poor lad they dragged him all the way from St Helen’s over to me near Chester on a Friday afternoon but he still turned up with a smile.
I was so grateful to Kev for coming out to me and this made a bad situation much better, thankyou Kev you were a star and RAC are lucky to have you as an employee.
Head office need to improve their organisation though in my opinion, communication seems to be lacking.

The rac lad who gave me roadside assistance was professional and got me going quickly and followed me home, I was very grateful he also organised for a mechanic to come to my home address and replace the alternator he was quick and efficient and I’m glad I joined rac

Friendly, Efficient, Professional ******
The booking process together with communications was seamless - thank you! And then to today (23.10.26) and despite the horrendous weather conditions, the wind and the biting cold, Dean (mechanic ID 8616) carried out a much-needed service on my Motability vehicle. He was friendly, efficient and professional at all times. If there was a 6th STAR, he'd get it! Big thanks from a very grateful and happy customer.

Excellent service
The RAC man turned up at the allocated time, got straight to work, the work was done and all was clean and tidy, very happy with the price and the work carried out all was explained and any extra work that needed doing after the service was explained too, plus it was more convenient having the work done in my own driveway

The mechanic was superb. RAC were not
The mechanic was superb. The original online quote was misleading (850). I was informed by the mechanic the work would be 1000 (approx) and this was shortly confirmed via email. It was suggested by the mechanic that the quote was based on the wrong parts. I queried this with RAC who said quotes depend on local cost of parts !
Payment is via phone link. This was declined by my bank, but the mechanic said payment was approved. As part of my query I raised this and RAC could not explain.
Upshot is I do not know WHY the price increased so dramatically, nor whether I have paid or not.
Spent over an hour trying to sort this mess
