I am only writing this review to 'cover…
I am only writing this review to 'cover my back' as I am in contact with RAC regarding a mobile mechanic repair. I have had to telephone four times over two days before someone actually took any action (once I was cut off) and I am now without a car for three days while I wait for another mechanic to arrive to sort out the problems with the previously carried out work. The previous mechanic is available earlier but I do not want to take any chances or sufffer from his possible denials and bad temper. He was quite likely overbooked as he still had another repair to carry out at the end of the day.
I have stressed that I do not want to be waiting in all day and constantly having to chase the RAC to find out when the mechanic is arriving. I had to jolly him along as he was going to be working on my car brakes and didn't want any mishaps. It is just luck that I have Google to search which lead me to realise that the noise coming from my front brakes is nothing to do with 'bedding in'!! So I dug deeper and it turns out that I have been charged for work that was not carried out and the brake inspection that was supposed to have taken place was either not carried out or inadequate. No post-repair road test was carried out by the mechanic. I did not press him for this as I did not feel confident to do so in view of the pressure on his time and his mood. I took it on faith.
This is really disappointing as of all the organisations that provide car repairs I had thought that the RAC could be relied upon. I am hoping that when the mechanic arrives after the weekend (preferably being kept informed roughly of the time he will arrive and not at the end of the day) that my faith in them will be restored and I will not end up in an endless battle trying to get the issues resolved. RAC - please restore my faith in your organisation so that I can give you back the three missing stars.

Tom was great. Called the night before to let me know when he will arrive. Got on with the job and when the was an issue with my oil filter housing he told me what will need doing and got me booked it to get it fixed. Couldn’t ask for more. Cheers Tom

RAC showed a lack of knowledge and understanding of the issue. Wasted my time and money when having explained the issue it was clearly a software problem which they can’t deal with except I have been charged £100 for the privilege of telling me after coming out.
