Top company to work for.
Been employed by sunbeam over 2 years and have time say it's the best organisation I've worked in..brilliant staff amazing support from every member..Support team is very forthcoming and always go the extra mile.
A New Chapter
I found the experience enjoyable and interesting. At times it was intense and I did expect it to be intrusive due to the nature of the subject, but to be honest I found it all okay. It was interesting, especially the family input and the feelings of support that was provided to me. Catherine the social worker was really nice and made the experience relaxing when she visited me. I was aware she would capture all the details and I know this is her job as she has to keep children safe. I was worried about my medical but that was okay too. I did feel trying to get refences really hard as some were so long ago, but it all went really well in the end. I would certainly recommend the process to family and friends

100% would not recommend using this agency
100% would not recommend using this agency. It has been an absolute night mare from the get go of us going through the assessment process to getting our first placement. When we got our first placement we wasn’t even allocated a supervising social worker until nearly 2 months into the placement. We have also been back and forward for months on end and still on going issues with our dog and the placement. We were advised by a dog assessor that they had sent out to get an exemption certificate because they are saying he told them that there is xl bully characteristics, which we did follow the advice given aswell as insuring the dog. In the process of assessment they destroyed have of my partners furniture. After this had happened they were all sweet with the dog being in the home until the Compass policy had changed, which we are still yet to see this ‘new’ policy.
We ended up voluntarily going to the police and seeking advice and guidance from them. Which they had come out and took the dog away for assessment and shortly after brought her home with no concerns at all and said that she is definitely not an xl bully type breed.
Now they are telling us we have to choose between the dog and continuing our fostering career.
Not only this but we have had absolutely no support at all from compass. This will not be the end for us.

Assessment process for becoming a Foster Carer.
Although the assessment process was very intense and extremely thorough, my assessing social worker was always there to help me through it step by step.
The Skills to Foster course was also intense but very educational and gave a good insight as to what is expected of every Foster Carer and also showed just how much support is there with each and every Foster Child etc which was reassuring.

Avoid Compass at all costs!
Compass are good until something goes wrong, then you are on your own!
They don't tell you the about what can go wrong and how open to attack you are being a foster carer, no mention during training. We were shocked by the way we have been abandoned and ignored.
I would never recommend Compass to anyone, they have not been any kind of support during a horrible time and have ruined a good family. Please think twice, especially if you have children of your own! Never again!

Amazing agency
Amazing agency, guided fully though the process with nothing but professionalism: incredible training & support. The process has taken us 5 months, we are now awaiting referals for our first child to be placed with us :) highly recommend Compass if you are considering fostering..

Supported
I have felt totally supported throughout the whole process, I was never made to feel silly with any questions asked, Michelle was fantastic and we formed a great relationship. I feel that I have made the right choice with Compass and feel at this point that I could pick up the phone to anyone on the team and get the help and support I need. My only critisism would be that the three day course which was online, only a couple of us kept our cameras on making it hard to form relationships with the other members.

Great company
Tried going through the process with Compass and i felt that everything went swimmingly. It may feel as if it's an invasive procedure but we knew that it's all for the safety of the children. Unfortunately, we couldn't progress further due to personal reasons but the Compass team were extremely supportive throughout. I'd definitely recommend Compass to anyone looking to start their fostering journey!

Don't even attempt to use Compass fostering
When you apply to become a foster parent with Compass they are very helpful and can't do enough to help you. The further you go into the assessment things Start to go wrong.
I am writing this through my own experience but reading through the reviews I am not surprised other people have had the same outcome as myself and my husband.
We made it perfectly clear when we first applied that our son ( 12 years old )was homeschooled but we have a large support network around us, so meetings regarding fostering wouldn't be an issue.
We had meetings with our assessing social worker, attended the 3 day skills to foster course, basically we jumped through hoops to accommodate everything they needed.
One evening we had a zoom call to inform us that they wouldn't be taking our application further because they feel our son is on the autism spectrum ( this hasn't ever been mentioned by the school, before we decided to home school). Or our G.P.
We asked to speak to someone from Compass and was told someone would call us. They did call and said they would investigate, we didn't hear back from them until 6 weeks later when out if the blue we had a call asking how we were feeling about our panel date the following week.
There is so much more to write but I am able to supply anyone wanting to see paperwork and how we were treated.
We have also put a complaint
In to Compass regarding our treatment. we had the conclusion today saying that due to still feeling our son is on the spectrum we will not be able to foster. How can they decide this without even meeting him or a diagnosis from a professional is staggering.
We have had all reports back from everyone who we have had dealings with from compass, each one said we would make great foster parents. I am willing to show these to anyone to show that Compass fostering are unprofessional and discriminate against people that have additional needs, even though my son doesn't. Since posting this review and receiving a reply from Crompass I am wondering how they are going to contact me as I haven't left any contact details!!!

I wanted to make a difference in a young person's life...
I applied to be a foster parent.way back in march .been very difficult with having to communicate with a abusive ex partner for references..and now since August it seems as though the agency is stonewalling me..No replies to my phone calls and e.mails...Seems very unprofessional..My last e.mail to them was to ask do I need to apply to another agency but still haven't heard!! I don't think I will push this further. Seems to have crushed my self confidence in becoming a foster parent ..this is the 2nd agency I have applied for.
