Top people at hic came in at at least 1k cheaper than any competitor plus came with all the extras , would really recommend them to anyone especially younger drivers as I'm 22 and trying to insure a 1993 Mercedes E220 petrol was proving difficult untill I called hic and it just wouldn't be right to compare them with other company's I tried they was just outstanding !!!

Very quickly answered the phone and the service was very personal. Always trying to make it easier for the customer which is the main aim.

Took out a policy online - nice and straightforward. Needed to cancel two months in - absolute nightmare. Re-occurring hold cycle resulted in me losing over an hour of my life being passed from pillar to post. When I finally got through to the only person trained at Herts who can do a cancellation, was told no refund due. I dread to think what my experience would have been like for a claim. Save the hassle and go with someone decent and reputable.

My particular experience is that this company's absolute speciality is to take more money from you once you have their insurance policy. In my case I needed to cancel early, firstly it was almost impossible to get them on the phone, on hold for long periods with no success and great expensive, last call cost nearly £8.00, failure to answer a phone in itself should be a red flag to anyone dealing with a company providing services or goods on the internet.
On not being able to get through I cancelled my direct debit, strikingly, this provoked a reaction within hours from them in the form of a threatening email telling me about the escalation and rapid growth of fees they were going to charge me if I didn't re-instate the direct debit.
Once they acknowledged that I could leave they charged an outrageous cancellation fee even though I'd already paid a significant proportion of the policy in previous monthly payments, this was backed up by a debt collecting agency.
In essence from my point of view, they've decided how much they want from me and then used a debt collecting agency as their tool of choice, no justification, no explanation no reason in law of why they want such a high proportion of the overall cost of the policy for cancellation - just a cold hard demand for what I frustratingly conclude is free money for them.
I'm not the only one, Facebook, Watchdog, google and loads of others

Used them for 2 years then when i sold my van and asked to cancel the policy, they stated I owed them £30 for cancelling and a further £63 for fees!! Fees for bloody what? I made my monthly payments then they want more for a service I won't be using any more?
Then the email I received threatened me with debt recovery if I didn't pay it straight away!!
Highly rude and aggressive.

Really poor
Really poor. Apparently the policy I bought affected my statutory rights under British law but they didn't bother to tell me that. I was told I had a 14 day cooling off period but it takes up to 7 days (seriously?) to listen to the call, Have complained to the Ombudsman.
Shame because the agents are lovely.
Avoid if at all Possible
Avoid if at all Possible. Expect to sit on hold for 30 - 45 min. Expect Rude, unhelpful poorly skilled staff, no customer service skills who just pass you around leaving you on hold. When you finaly get through expect Fees, Fees and MORE FEES. Also, don't expect it to be clear you are paying a fee, unless you are cancelling .
This company is just plain hopeless, I reconmend you go to a proper Insurance company, and avoid these people.
Don't use them, don't trust them
In many years dealing with insurance companies, my experience with Herts Insurance (HI) is the worst I have ever experienced.
A policy was cancelled by the company without notification and for no reason. The danger to the insured being that they were then driving uninsured, unknowingly.
A payment was taken from my account to which they had no legal access (no connection to the policy). It would appear that HI hold data without authority to be used by them at a later date.
HI is the sort of Insurance provider that gives other reputable insurers a bad name.
I strongly advise that anyone looking for insurance does not work with them or any Agent that uses their services or has links to them.

am a new driver looking for First Time Insurance I requested a call back to be put through to some Guy In sales that seemed like he was still In school/Collage After giving first name and Last name The customer service guy hung the phone up. Called back and asked to be put through to manger/supervisor to make a complaint had to wait 20 mins to be put through to someone was answered By a female who had a attitude from the start she told me that i cud not make a complaint as i didn't have a policy with them or a quote
