Beware of Misdiagnosis and Overcharging at Mercedes Benz Brighton
We recently had a deeply disappointing experience with the service at Mercedes Benz Brighton. On the 28th of last month, my son's car broke down in the middle of the highway without warning and stalled. The RAC came to check it, but they couldn’t repair it on the spot, so they towed it to Mercedes Benz Brighton, our dealer, where we have a car plan since purchasing the vehicle.
My son takes excellent care of his car, and as an NHS key worker, he relies on it daily. Despite being loyal customers, Mercedes Benz Brighton ignored the RAC diagnosis and insisted on conducting their own analysis, claiming their sophisticated tools and highly trained technicians would identify the fault. They charged us £210 for this diagnosis, refusing to reduce the fee.
Their diagnosis was that the car had been misfueled. However, when we requested the diagnosis report, it did not mention misfuelling, the actual fault code P209A21, which relates to the intake system, not fuel quality. Despite our assurance and evidence that my son had filled his car with diesel, they were adamant that the fuel was contaminated with petrol. To prove our case, we went to Tesco to obtain a duplicate receipt, which confirmed that my son had indeed filled the car with diesel just half an hour before the breakdown. The whole experience was time consuming and stressful.
Despite this, the dealership attempted to charge £210 for the incorrect diagnosis and £1200 for repairs based on their incorrect findings. This level of service is unacceptable for a brand that prides itself on quality.
I urge potential customers to be cautious and ensure they receive accurate diagnoses and fair treatment. Our experience has left me questioning the competence and integrity of Mercedes Benz Brighton. I hope this review encourages them to improve their diagnostic processes and customer service standards.
To Service manager of Brighton
You have a receipt proving the car was filled with the correct fuel. If you are still claiming it was misfueled, it would mean the Tesco diesel pump was contaminated, which is highly unlikely
Mercedes newbridge in Edinburgh are a…
Mercedes newbridge in Edinburgh are a shambles man. Used to be great. Put my car in for MOT first thing this morning, I went in at 5.00pm as hadn’t heard anything they said not ready yet, just going on the ramps, Come out at 6pm it’s failed. Front coil.
Won’t be ready, well I need a courtesy car. None sorry, well give me my car back as I need to pick my kids up?
How am I supposed to get home? When will my car be fixed don’t know. Call your leasing company. Currently in a taxi on the M8 terrible service
Absolutely shocking service!
Absolutely shocking service!! What has happened to the customer care at the brand!! We run several Mercedes and i have popped in to two main dealerships in the last 5 days, Ascot and Ipswich.
All i had was a simple service question to ask.
Was completely ignored by all staff at both, not one person asked if they could help!! I could have been there to spend big but they completely ignore you. You could not even hang your hat on the snob card as both dealerships saw me arrive in my S Class and was in a suit!! Was in both dealerships for over 15 minutes just waiting for some form of engagement!! Seriously considering swapping brands as they have no care for the customer!! So all my servicing is going to my local Mercedes independent garage from now on and I will reconsider the 200k that I was about to re order in a month.
Mercedes Benz stockport
I have brought my 1992 Mercedes 300SL twice into the service department.
First visit regarding the servicing of the electric roof. All they did was lubricate the mechanism something I do myself regularly . They did not check the pump and top up the hydraulic liquid. I asked why and the guy said I’ve never had to do this on a car?? . I insisted that I bring the car in again and do what was asked. Surprisingly it did need some liquid and now works a lot better.
Second visit despite the car turning over it would not start from cold . I dropped the car the night before and the next day about 11am received a call that it was a relay switch which they replaced. HOWEVER water was gushing out of the car and would I agree to £900 investigation being 5 hours work to find the gushing leak?
He then told me that it could takes thousands to repair once they have found the leak. I told him that I had not seen any water leak outside my house but he said the chief service officer had reported how serious it was. I was confused as water gushing out would surely be easy to find. I wanted a second opinion and so took the car elsewhere who jet washed the system and ran the car for 45 mins … NOT A DROP OF WATER. Two days later I drive to devon 4.5 hours and NO OVERHEATING, NO WATER LEAK AND NO TOP UP OF WATER REQUIRED.
Go to a back street garage as there you expect to get ripped off
UPDATE… two weeks later message from Mercedes Benz ‘we are very disappointed and our team will call you ‘ …. They can’t even do that right !!
UPDATE NOT EVEN THE COURTESY OF A RESPONSE!! Cowboys
I honestly regret ever getting involved…
I honestly regret ever getting involved with Mercedes. I was stupid enough to take out a service plan and believing that they will deal with any breakdowns as part of the package. I have been waiting for five hours to get someone to come and help me with a tyre puncture. It’s a 11 pm now and they are saying it might even take till tomorrow before I get someone to come out to me. I have explained more than five times that I have to be out of the house by 8 am. I can’t wait to go back to BMW. I dealt with Georgia from Mercedes at RAC and she couldn’t help me , maybe because they just give them phones and zero information to do the job.
New car with issues
It has taken me over 2 years to share my experience with Mercedes Chelsea as life has thrown me a curve ball. Now I am back on track.
I purchased a new Mercedes GLA 250e in September 2021 a 71 plate. By around March 2022, I noticed that the car boot door was opened even though I locked it. So, I monitored and true, even after locking the door using the key, the car boot door would open by itself afterwards. I booked an appointment at the Chelsea branch by Jews Row, which is now permanently closed. The verdict was some mechanical part which needed either replacing or adjusting. As this part was not under the Mercedes warranty, I would need to pay for it. The car clocked less than 2000 miles around March 2022 so I confronted to the sales rep. It was agreed that this charge would be voided as a good will gesture.
The car was returned by to me very soon. The boot was tested before I left the depot. Somehow the next day, the same thing happened. The door did not close tightly and I must give it a firm push in order to lock the boot. I then returned the car back to the depot. Sometimes it locked, sometimes it didn’t lock.
The third visit, instead of going back home, I drove around and stop somewhere to test out the door. Same thing happened. Door cannot be closed without pressing down. Back I went. This time, the manager and one of the mechanics met with me. I showed them the problem. This was what was explained:
The problem was the lock of the rear seats. If the seats are down and I wanted to bring them back up, I must tilt them at a certain angle, and let go very gently, otherwise the lock will not engage properly. The rear door will detect it (something technical) as the privacy cover could not align and hence the rear door would not lock. By pressing down manually, I would be forcing the door to close and would create some sort of wear of tear as time goes by.
The car was left at the depot over the Easter weekend and by around the 6th visit. They finally found out the true problem which was an adjustment /alignment of the lock on the car boot which had nothing to do with the lock on the rear seats.
If I knew I had to learn to tilt the seats at a certain angle. I would have never bought the car. This is not normal daily usage. I cannot remember how many times I had to drop the car off and collect the car when it was ‘ready’, this would be 4 journeys each time. Around 5 or 6 times. This could be 20 or 24 journeys in total.
I am sure there are millions of satisfied customers out there. I took the car to West London Mercedes this year for a service and that was fine.
As far as the 2022 episode goes, not customer service but customer stress.
Mercedes Benz Edinburgh are completely…
Mercedes Benz Edinburgh are completely unprofessional and misguide people. I bought EQE 300 from them through a third party broker. And they said I’d receive my log book with in 3 days. After waiting for 3 weeks I contacted DVLA and found out they had never requested for the V5. When I called Edinburgh branch again why had they been lying to me about that instead of taking the responsibility manager Callum started beating about the bush and without investigating he started defending his staff called Callum Paterson who had been lying to me over the call that he had requested my log book to dvla online which he never did. Disgusting and disappointing treatment I received from them. I would suggest everyone who’s thinking to buy their car from them to think twice. They’re fraud

Very positive experience at this dealership
All staff very attentive and helpful
Elle M especially lovely warm welcome and could not do enough to help
Will be returning when I am at a point to swap over
Poor service
Poor service, over charged for repairs which were then brought up as warranty repairs. Not told of security vulnerabilities of the keyless entry could of had keys upgraded to not give off a signal to car. Would happily of paid for this but was never mentioned. Too late now as the car I spent 40K on was stolen from the drive
Complained that service plan then had a £48 cancellation fee even though the car was stolen so I had to cancel it. No sympathy from Mercedes would never deal with the brand again. Really poor at communicating with their customers worst car company I have ever had to deal with.

Loved the atmosphere at Warrington Mercedes, very attentive and smiley staff on hand to greet and support you.
Had all my questions answered and will be definitely be returning.
Worse than useless!!
Not sure where 2 start, 2 Scottish winters and a car that totally freezes up inside making it unusable as the heating is in adequate to defrost like a normal vehicle, even though they say they carried out tests and they were adequate. I further did my own tests and proved them wrong.
General Manager eventually agree this car is not working correctly and pass over to complaints, who are even less interested in the customer and their issues than the local dealership.
Contacting anybody from the finance dept. is near impossible and when you do get somebody they are patronising and do not care about the customers views, they settled the finance, fine however reimbursed me with only half of the payments worth even though my car has been off the road more than it has been on it for so many issues other than the heating.
You can't talk to anybody higher than the complaints handler, it is their way or no way and they are just not interested.
I would not recommend anybody to visit the salesroom in Newbridge, Edinburgh, nor expect any actual assistance from the finance team who are just as useless as the initial sales team, basically it is their way or no way, avoid and go to BMW, Land Rover or even Skoda, hopefully they care more about the customer than the crooks that work for Mercedes-Benz.
I guess this is a waste of time posting…
I guess this is a waste of time posting on here as Mercedes have never claimed the site. But here goes as a warning to others considering a purchase: A class 220cdi 2016 bought from new now with 45,000 miles on the clock, serviced every year and yesterday the engine just blew leaving me in a cloud of smoke and needing rescue. Very disappointed and really upset. Beware

TERRIBLE SERVICE FROM OXFORD INCHCAPE MERCEDES
Yet another bad experience at Inchcape Mercedes in Oxford. After having to wait months for availability to repair a faulty Aircon/ heating control on a 1 year old EQV that had already been in for a heating fault that taken several attempts for Oxford Mercedes to fix. Im now being told that after the 2nd day the car has not even been looked at. This is after i was called late yesterday and was told that a mechanic had just started to look at it and they would let me know after the diagnostics had been done. Now the story is that they dont have anybody qualified to look at Electric vehicles and the person looking at it yesterday wasnt qualified !!! So many conflicting stories and excuses... its worse than dealing with backstreet cowboy mechanics. I WILL NEVER CHOOSE ANOTHER MERCEDES.
Do not buy from Merc Grangemouth shocking !
Do not buy from Merc Grangemouth unless you want a load of hassle and deceit .
Bought car last month for over £25 k
Picked it up and went to my own mechanic next morning for a quick check - 10 diagnostic faults
Budget tyres not suitable for car
2 pressure caps missing , tyre pressures all wrong
No inflation kit present
Most concerning - faulty exhaust
Contacted Grangemouth and said where rejecting the car and where well within right to do so , they wanted to inspect it and after they did admitted there was a faulty exhaust , would order part will take a week , still rejected the car but would not refund , went to Len Cocozza CEO down there , not even an apology just saying would not get a refund . Went to Merc Head office they just went back to grangemouth - who denied all knowledge - absolute joke .
Car back with new part , but blue paint brushed over inside passenger door ! Still mo inflation kit ! denying all knowledge to other 10 faults said where old ones . Tyres where standard Merc tyres then another salesman Mr Hadow said that was the tyres they came in with !!!
Just a heep of trouble with this garage .
You have been warned .
I have taken it up with Motor Ombudsman now just so they are aware . Searching this garage , it seems the norm .
I remember when John Weir and then Merc Grangemouth were of a high standard, not any more now Arnold Clark involved. Just a load of jokers .

Customer service - what customer service? - Mercedes Bath Road Slough
Mercedes-Benz of Slough 273-283 Bath Road, Slough, Berkshire, SL1 5PR
I am not sure if this is a franchise dealer or owned and operated by Mercedes Benz UK. Whichever it is they do not deserve any Mercedes owners business because they don't seem to want it - based on my experience today. While driving into a packed car park and politely asking a suited member of management staff, who seemed particularly concerned about a broken-down Mercedes Ice-cream van, where one might find a safe place to park ones g63 AMG in the "sea" of broken down lesser (S-box) Mercedes Benz cars so one could visit the after sales department - I was told that I would not be seen unless I had made an appointment. Why one had to make an appointment to visit the after sales department was not explained. It would appear that the dealership in Slough is so busy fixing broken down Mercedes (S-boxes) they had no interest in looking after a customer who's car could make it to the dealership under its own power.
After being given short-shrift by this "Tin Pot Dictator" it was clear that the MB Slough dealership is a business devoid of the general credos of customer service and courtesy that it is undeserving of further support of Mercedes Benz owners.
Very impressed
A surprisingly great experience from a car dealership. After being guided by Paul I was able to acquire the exact cars I was after. Not once did I feel any pressure.
This experience has completely changed my mindset on car dealerships, well done Paul and thank you again.
